Your tax dollars at work.I have been told that this $80.000.00 custom shear was originally built for the U.S. Navy to cut perforated stainless steel sheets for submarines. Never used by the government and sold as surplus. Can't confirm the story but it is a nice piece of equipment. I bought it to start a company that didn't get off the ground. The only issue is its missing the manufacturers ID tag but its clearly a Beverly. The B-3 is the largest of the hand operated shears and the only one I know of that has the adjustable hold down above the lower blade. It can cut up to 3/16" mild steel and up to 10 gauge stainless. The tool comes with a 9/32" punch in it. Clearance hole for a 1/4" bolt. It has the capability of punching a hole through 3/16" mild steel. This can also do a 90 degree bend in up to 1" by 1/8" strap material. Can shear flat stock. 1 1/2" wide by 3/16" mild steel. This is a very old tool from a pipe organ repair company. it is mounted on a pine 24.5 x 7 x 1.50 board with lots of holes drilled into it. It can cut 5 sizes 1/8. 3/16, 1/4, 5/16, and 3/8. I tested it with 1/4 brass rod and it cut very well. I will have to unscrew it from the board for shipping but will include the original screws.
