We can tell that it is made to straighten coiled sheet metal and then cut it at a specific length. When the electrical power was applied the motor. Gears and rollers all spun with ease and had no problems. When the pneumatic line was connected we got the cutting assembly to move back and forth, though it was a little sluggish. The bottom air tank has an end hose disconnected which may be a contributing ... morefactor. We could not get the assembly to move up or down. The two switch/solenoids on the top of the cutting assembly, on either side, did not seem to work. One made a clicking sound when power was applied and the other did not make any noise. When the air is turned on/off the cutting blade moves slightly up and down. None of the sensors were tested. The hand crank(cable) to the gear box was turned while it was running but we did not notice any change. We are not sure of its function. No further testing was performed. The buyer is responsible for the repairs needed to get this to operate properly. No manuals, cords/cables, or additional items are included if not listed or shown. Vintage Small 7" Tin Snips Shear Sheet Metal Cutter Tool Steel Roofing Siding
These Vintage Small 7" Tin Snips have been gently restored. What does gently restored mean? The overall objective is to preserve as much as the old tool or item with a good balance of lifetime patina as possible without the use of power tools. The first step is to dismantle the tool down to individual parts. Metal is typically initially cleaned using mineral oil. Or a weak solution of washing soda and water and if necessary brief burst of electrolysis on to remove and or convert rust to black oxide. For other metals such as brass a brief immersion in a weak solution of food grade citric acid may be necessary. Whichever method is best, a scotch brite plastic cleaning pad is used with water so the underlying metal is not damaged. A heat gun is immediately used to blow dry and eliminate moisture to which is followed by a hand rubbed coat ... moreof a mix of orange and mineral oil to seal the pores. It is often necessary to repeat this step until a satisfactory result is achieved. After letting the oil“soak in” for a day or so, the item is wiped cleaned then hand rub in a purchased but diluted orange oil bees wax mix to seal it. For wood a weak solution of oil soap and water is used to remove grime, old oils and dirt which is air or blowed dry with a heat gun. This is followed by a hand rub of“feed and wax" Normally all other materials are simply wiped clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth as appropriate. If the situation requires it, a soft brass bristle brush or“0000” steel wool is ocassionaly used. A couple of items should be noted. The first is this gentle process may not remove all rust or dirt, etc, as there is always a balance of limiting restoration to not affect patina. The second is that tools and items are not conditioned for use such as sharpening, tightening or replacement of parts. This is left up to the judgement of the new owner as there is a large range of utilization of older tools. Lastly, the item may have residual oil left in the cleaning process. cidan 8' metal shear in excellent shape
cidan metal shear type ms-m 2.5/2.0.i'm told the 2.5 is meters of cut length which is just over 8 ft. and the 2.5 is mm of cut thickness which is about 14g. 220 volt. 3 phase. Foot pedal control. Motor HP i'm not sure. Tag is worn, but my 5 HP phase converter runs it, but it think its pushing it. in great shape. Powers up and runs and cuts. i've tested it with some 16g steel scraps i had around cut good. looks great. may be tested at my shop in hemet ca. with appointment. as stated before runs good. Cuts, light works, back gauge works, emergency stop works, foot pedal works, and it looks great! only issue is the broken plastis box that houses the realys and wire connections, i bumped it with forklift when unloading it. DOES NOT AFFECT PERFORMANCE AT ALL. it is located under the bed of the shear and behind the"tin" cover ... morebelow the bed. so with covers in place it is not accessible without removing lower"tins" in other words with the"tins" in place you CAN'T touch it or get shocked by anything. Used Pexto 137K stomp shear 36" converted to air power. Rated at 16ga but cuts 18ga and less better on the air cyl. Includes the original adjustable back gage and the front arms. One arm has been brazed. The stomp arms have been shortened and the air cylinder added. Cuts lighter gages fine. Blade seems sharp. Table has some stains but is smooth. Paint is chipped and faded.
