Starrett Inside Micrometer in original case and box#823B with original receipt from 1997. Range 1 1/2" 6" One head with 1/2" movement. Calibration done on 6/21/12. Due 6/21/13. My husband passed away recently and they belonged to him. I know nothing about the tools other than what they are, but I do know that he worked mostly in precision machine shops and ran CNC machines. His latest job was with TIMCO which does aircraft MRO(Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) and interiors services for commercial and government aircraft operators, so all of his tools needed to be within specs. I believe that these were manufactured prior to 1971 as you can see the next calibration date is February 12. 1971. Would measure 2" 2 1/2" Has patina/some surface rust. Don't know if the spindle is supposed to lock? The measuring points look flat. It does seem to spin OK. A little rough, but its likely vintage. Will certainly need inspected. Some of the tools have light engraving of initials. Also one Starrett telescope for parts(not pictured. I feel I have described this tooling accurately and truthfully. Starrett No. 124-C solid rod inside micrometer set with a range of 8-32" in.001" increments. The mic head has travel of 1.000" and works nice& smooth. The spacers and rods are all nice& clean. Being that this is a used set. The individual rods may or may not need adjusting, but both adjustment wrenches are included. The mic head has the numbers 75-603 pretty deeply engraved on it's shank(pic# 5) but the rods have no personal markings. The set is complete with two x 2" spacers& one x 1" spacer to give each rod assembly a 6" total range. There are 4 main assemblies: 8-14" 14-20" 20-26" 26-32" The 20-26" 26-32" are two piece assemblies that need to be screwed together. Pic# 11 shows everything assembled. One thing I did notice is that the rod for 14-20" is incorrectly ... morestamped with 8-14" I don't know why but keep that in mind. The wood case is solid with good hinges& decent latches, but is also engraved with 75-603 on the top, plus there are some scratches& wear. VINTAGE INSIDE TUMICO TUBULAR MICROMETER CO 1"-3" SERIES E-2
You are looking at a vintage tool manufactured by the Tubular Micrometer Company of St James. Minnesota- Tumico 1"3" inside micrometer. Series E-2. The frame has a high shine coating which makes it look newer than it is. The anvil and spindle are flat ended and rust free. The spindle and the thimble turn quite freely. 8ths. 16ths, 32nds and 64ths and their fraction/decimal equivalents are engraved on both sides of the frame. There are no scratches. Rust or wear patterns on the barrel so the engrave numbers and lines are easy to read. There are no owner engravings or marking on this item. This micrometer is a used item so it does have evidence of use but no pitting. Gouges scuffs or scrapes. Surface is smooth. For it's age. A vocational trade school has closed its machine shop program. The main shop as well as the affiliated satellite machine shops are in the process of being liquidated. As the items are released for disposition they will be offered for sale. I will do my best to provide an accurate description. But sale is final so please feel free to ask any questions that you might have. Offered here is one the last items from one of the small satellite shops. This is a Starrett Inside Micrometer set in the original storage case. This is an older set, needs a little clean and polish, but appears to be functional.
