Tumico Feather Touch Inside Measurement Tubular Micrometer Kit Complete in Customized"Cut To" Fit Wooden Tool Box All I know about Tumico Micrometers I've learned from Wikipedia and other sites so feel free to ask question. I do know, that it is rare to find a complete kit, with no missing parts for a set this old. This micrometer kit comes in it's own fitted, hinged two piece, tool box, with a hook latch. The box measures 11" by 3 1/4" by 1 1/4" The Tumico metal badge tacked on the lid reads: TUMICO TUBULAR MICROMETER CO. ST.JAMES, MINN. U.S.A. FEATHER TOUCH, there is a wing pictured beside feather touch. There is a serial number or part number in the upper left corner that looks like 1- 28 2T08. There is no mention of Scherr on the box or on the head, so this would date to before they merged around the end ... moreof WWII. The head has a diamond grip pattern end and reads; TUBULAR MICROMETER CO. ST. JAMES. MINN. U.S.A. Below that it is marked around the shaft in graduations of 0,5,10,15,20. The inside shaft that screws into the larger shaft is graduated 0,1,2,3,4,5. The head has 1 spindle lock screw. There is another threaded hole opposite the spindle screw hole that accepts the long micrometer head handle, as shown in the last photo. The handle is ten inches long, has the diamond grip pattern on one end and tapers to the threaded other end. Also in the last photo the smallest of the measuring spindles is shown as it goes into the head. All of the spindle measuring rods are inserted 1 1/4 inch into the head. The smallest spindle is stored in the head and measures 1/4 inch from the head. All the other parts of the kit have their own fitted storage area in the box. The other spindle rods measure from the head; 1 1/4, 2 1/4, 3 1/2, 4 1/4, and 5 1/4 inches. The box also has cut out storage for the 2 wrenches and the 1/2 inch spacer. This micrometer set is complete and in excellent vintage condition, not shiny new condition. It is over sixty years old and used.

Thank you for viewing this item. This listing is for a Vintage Lufkin Micrometer set in the original box. Model 680A. The range listed is 1 1/2 inches to 8 inches. Box measures 6 7/8 inches by 3 1/8 inches. 7/8 inch depth. USA made. Condition: This set is in really nice shape- I bought this with other new. Old stock items. I couldn't confirm it was new/unused so I didn't list it as such- light use at most. Even the small wooden dowel is still included on the main piece and it is clear the individual that owned it took care of it.or didn't use it much. It is complete. And all pieces are present. The micrometers have a nice finish-maybe the lightest dab of surface rust here or there but it is pretty unnoticeable/would certainly clean. Insides are clean- there is very light surface rust on the inside of the top two pieces, but it ... moreis really light/some 0000 steel wool would clean that right up if you desire. I took a picture down inside of one. No dings or scratches on the items. The inside of the box is very nice with no scratches, and the inside label is nice. The outside of the box has what looks like a tiny bit of tape residue on the top near the"Lufkin" mark- I didn't attempt to clean that, but I think it would clean nicely. No major scratches on the to of the box, but there are some on the bottom. The hinges open and close easily. The hinge on the front slides in and out of place easily.
