19th Century Large Walnut Frame with Gold Leaf Insert (Circa 1875)
Great large walnut frame with gold leaf insert in very nice condition with nice age ready for your antique print or artwork. The back opening measures 20" x 26" but can easily be cut down to fit any painting or picture which is smaller. The outside dimensions of the frame are: 23 ½ X 29 ¼” The inside(sight size of picture) measurements are: 19 5/8” X 25. There is a small chip out of the back edge of the frame which is normal for frames of this age. This is hardly noticable but I wanted to just point it out. Hard to see in the last picture. This is a great frame with great patina being sold much cheaper than what it would cost to frame something in one of those cheap looking new frames.

The rim lip is sharp and the only flaws are 2 tiny fleabites on the inside edge of that sharp rim. The message in Italian reads"Sinceri Felici Auguri" Which translates"Sincere Happy Wishes" in English. Measures 4 7/8" by 3 1/4" by 1 3/4" Some wear and scratching to the metal and glass. A few small nicks in the glass. None of the panels are cracked. Three are not glued and one is secured with glue. The corner fabric on the lid is loose. Victoria and Highgate Potteries in Tunstall. Staffordshire, England. The bamboo pattern was produced in the 1870s and 1980s. The mark also dates it to before 1897. The letters Ltd. were added to the name in 1897. Alfred Meakin was one of the most popular manufacturers of the Tea Leaf design. Favored over the plain white ironstone which was in common use in America. Condition: minor crazing and stains. As shown in the photos. In the second picture you can see a nick in the surface of the lid. Above the handle, toward the left. In the eighth picture you can see a nick with subsequent staining in the edge of the lid.
