NO. 2(gouged) 3' As far as operation is concerned. I opened and closed the self centering chuck, I cranked the handle to turn the chuck, I set the spring loaded point into a couple of the holes in the plate, and I moved the brass stops around in front of the plate. However, I only used the machine as a manual headstock along with a tailstock to hold a wood sculpture between centers for power carving. This machine is SOLD AS IS WITH NO WARRANTY EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED. The dividing head and chuck weigh 31 lbs unpacked. The base measure 6.5 inches by 4. The taper hole is 1 inch wide in front. 7" Faceplate for Metal Lathe or Dividing Head
I got the pictured faceplate with a lathe that I purchased but it doesn't fit the lathe. It is in very nice shape and appears to have seen light use at the most. I think it's a Hardinge. But there aren't any markings on it one way or the other. The overall finish and quality of manufacture lead me to that conclusion. I've also seen other identical faceplates listed explicitly as Hardinge. There are two T-Slots forming a cross on the work surface as well as a number of factory drilled and tapped holes. It is a threaded mount. The threads measure 10 threads per inch. The minor diameter of the threads is 2.18" as measured with my cheap dial calipers. I'm going to assume that the major diameter is about 2 1/4" although I can't think of a way to measure that independently. Please feel free to ask questions.
