Brown & Sharpe High Speed Surface Grinding Spindle Attachment Mill Lathe
Up for your consideration is a Brown& Sharpe high speed surface grinding spindle attachment. You will receive what is pictured. The unit, pulley, belt guard, and mounting bracket for the belt guard. It appears to have been used very little, if at all. There are scratches, chips, and very minor surface rust from sitting. It still has cosmoline on it in some areas. The areas discolored on the painted surfaces is cosmoline and it will clean off. Please ask any questions you might have. Make sure to look at the other spindles and arbors that I currently have listed.

OLD BROWN & SHARPE J.T. SLOCOMB OUTSIDE MICROMETER W/ ORIG WOOD BOX PROVIDENCE
In 1833 David Sharpe and his son Joseph and J.R. Brown started the famous machine company. In 1853. Lucian Sharpe joined to make it the Brown& Sharpe Mfg. Co. They made cotton machinery and clocks etc. micrometers. And this micrometer box. They both went to the Paris Exposition in 1867 and were inspired to make micrometers. Etc. and now make several hundred different styles and sizes. However. This Micrometer Caliper that was originally in this box has been replaced by another similar Providence, R.I. toolmaker, J.T. Slocomb. It was made with hardened tool steel. It enabled the user to measure by the thousandth of an inch from 1" to 2" I'm not sure of the age of these, but a like micrometer originally sold for around $11.00 in 1938 and now, new, sell for $179-$250. Again, these are some of the best precision micrometers ... moreused by craftsmen all over the world. The micrometer is in good condition and is about 5 1/2" long and complete with the previous owner's manual. The micrometer is used. So there is some paint scraped off during use, all seen in my pictures. This auction includes this very rare box joint wooden box. It is made from the local native pine from the New England area. Common for the era of the 1920's and 1930's. Its"Brown& Sharpe" graphics are embossed into the top and with the use of the finger pull, you slide the top onto the box. The box is in good condition with no cracks. It is a little dirty, but all the graphics are legible, the joints are tight, and even has the tag at the end of the box. The top slides easily on the runners. The box is 7 1/2" long. Shipping for this item will be only $7.00 anywhere in the U.S. I will combine auction shipping to save $$.

Vintage Brown & Sharpe, No.47, 1"-2", 0.001" Outside Micrometer
Brown& Sharpe is a division of Hexagon Metrology. Inc. a multinational corporation focused mainly on metrological tools and technology. During the 19th and 20th centuries, Brown& Sharpe was one of the best-known and most influential firms in the machine tool industry. It produced high quality instruments that are still in demand today. I am guessing that this micrometer is from the early 1930's. It weighs 6 oz. and everything- thimble, lock, and ratchet- all works well. Since this is a vintage model, it does have pitting and discoloration, but not on the spindle, just on the thimble and body. Somewhere in its history, an owner stamped in a small discrete name or logo on the front. Carefully look at the photos to be sure that you will be satisfied with this unit.

This vintage Brown and Sharpe 585 Vernier height gauge is in very very good condition with the sliding scale& original screws intake. All components including case are original. The bar range is marked 1" to 11" with sliding bar readings with a.001" graduation. The wood case has original markings of Brown& Sharpe inside and on the outside front. There is slight external damage to the corners of the case. There is internal damage by the screws. The markings of Brown& Sharpe inside also have damage. Purchased at an estate sale recently; I really had no idea what box was used for just purchased because it appeared to be a quality made box. I noticed it has a stamp of sorts on the top the reads Brown& Sharpe; so I looked it up& it appears that box may be used to hold Inspection Gauges? Listing is for box only; it did not come with instrument. Box has some damage to one of the corners but overall appears to be a nice solid piece; please see photos to judge condition for yourself. The 3 latches work perfectly fine to close box; it is designed to stand on one end with a handle at the top. Box has nice dove tail wood work on the ends.
