A local company is re-locating its machine shop and as a result will be disposing of the surplus items from both the machine shop and the maintenance shop. Offered here is a Famco#1 Arbor Press which came out of the maintenance shop. The arbor press looks to be in good condition. But it does need a few minor things. A small handle for the locking pin should be made up, and a piece of rod for the actuating handle is needed. The Ram and Press Frame appear to be in good condition so it should be worth the effort to do the minor repairs. This is a Greenerd Model 3 3/4 ratchet type 5 ton arbor press. This old press is in exceptional condition. It appears to have lived a pretty easy life. It is mechanically tight and is ready to go to work. It has been stripped to bare metal and repainted. Everything works as it should and the teeth and gear are perfect. It has the original base plate also. There are a couple of minor hammer marks on top of the ram put there by some idiot at one point in time. The top is not mushroomed and it doesn't interfere with the travel. If my lathe was big enough. I would have chucked it up and removed a few thousandths re-facing it. This press is about as nice as you will find one. If you were waiting for a nice one to come along, this is it. I will consider any reasonable offer for it. I thought this was a great looking piece of equipment and then noticed it was from Sears Roebuck and that really got my interest. I have tried looking up information on it but basically found nothing. It came out of a working grinding shop but I don't know if it functions correctly. The handle easily raises and lowers the toothed shaft but other than that it is being sold as is. The overall height is about 18" to the top of the arched top. The shaft goes considerably higher when it is raised. The plastic(I think) nub is about 1" in diameter. The whole thing weighs about 50 lbs and will ship FedEx so it can't go to a PO Box. Bar/Band Bending Arbor Press
Rare old. But in excellent condition, metal bar and band bending arbor press. Using the inside rollers, the completed angle is about 100 degrees for a.125" x 1.5" wide aluminum band with an approx. 500" radius. The outside bars will provide just over 50 degrees. Band stock up to 4" wide by up to approx. 1875" thickness in aluminum can also be hand formed using the front bending rod. I am not sure how thick a piece of sheet steel can be formed, likely 1/8" or so. The hole in the back at top is threaded to allow for a stop bolt for more precise bending repeatability. Unit comes with two hardened steel rollers and two Nylon(I believe) roller inserts. The removable steel rollers are.750" and the Nylon rollers are approximately.722" The permanent press roller is.500" hardened steel.This device was originally ... moresold and used in the orthopedic brace profession back in the days following the U.S. polio epidemic. It is not often seen anymore, but is still a very useful bending tool for bar and small band bending projects. The rollers are not equidistant from the press roller, but I have never found this to be an issue. There may be a reason for this. I don't know.

He said it came from the local Kokomo, IN plant. It has a custom wheel attached instead of a bar for better leverage. It was obviously put on there a long time ago.
