Antique Slave Leg Shackles from Kemp Plantation from 1804. Some rust as shown in pictures, tag on the shackles has words engraved on each side. As a name tag for the slave and including the plantation's name so that if the slave escaped, they could be returned to their plantation, Side 1: Kemp Plantation. Tobacco and Cotton, State of Mississippi" Side 2: Samuel. Field Worker, Kemp Plantation, 1804, Mississippi" Kemp Plantation belonged to Capt. Jonathan Kemp who served in the American Revolutionary War. His plantation was partially in Mississippi and partially in Louisiana. He is buried on his plantation- on the Louisiana side. He lived in Georgia and North Carolina before moving to Mississippi/Lousisana.

This is a really neat piece of art work by Jim(James) Talbot. He worked for Avalon Hill and Milton Bradley. He is now a Freelance Illustrator so check out his work. This is his original art work from the late 1970s early 1980s. It needs to be cleaned I think. As it was in with the other art piece that I have and they were just stacked together. The painting is on a board of some kind and I am not sure what kind of paint he used.I think this is an oil on board) This is about 30x20 inches and is singed by Jim Talbot. I have 15 of his works of art that i will be putting on so check out my other auctions. I think these may have been for either books or magazine works that he did. Jim(James) Talbot mostly did covers for computer game company Avalon Hill(I think he did at least 25 for them) He also did a couple of covers that were used for Avalon Hill games released on the Atari 2600 and I believe later some covers for MB released games on the NES(Captain Skyhawk" IIRC) I personally liked his covers. They have a classic touch to them. Avalon Hill itself never had any major computer game hits, so most of their games are forgotten. The best part in fact in most cases was the cover art: Wow. Those are great! The witch really looks familiar. I read a lot of SF& fantasy, and I swear I've seen that one before. You can tell Talbot definitely went through a Frazetta phase. The Battlestar Galactica one is also interesting. Some look unfinished in the sense that they may have been done purposefully that way, thinking about magazine cover and the need for a logo and other text. I don't think any of these are ones he did for Atari. But I'll dig around to see what these may have been used for. Is the last one a self portrait? This is a neat pair of heavy duty antique handcuffs/irons or shackles with the original key from Hiatt Company. The Hiatt Company first appeared in the Wrighton Directory in Britain as a manufacturer of felons irons& gate locks in 1818. With the owner listed as Thomas Griffin Hiatt. It again appeared in the directory in 1845 with William John Hiatt(heir) in command. It is rare that this one still has the original key. It is marked Hiatt SPF 2122 and they still work. I counted 106 of them but I found one that was not marked crosby and I found another that was 3/4 ton. Just to play it safe I have listed this as 100 but you will get 106 shackles. This early 18th Century leg shackle features two leg rings with a single bar with a large flange end and one large link attached to the opposite end. This style is typical of the early colonial period and is very similar to the leg shackles found on the famous slavery ship Henrietta Marie that sank off the Florida coast in 1700 after delivering a shipment of slaves.
