interesting early department store sales tool- clerks didn't have cash registers to receive buyers payments- all the major department stores pennys.Sears,wards, etc. used a pneumatic tube system to conclude purchases. the clerk would take your money& place it in this plastic-brass- steel container along with tag from item. this container would be placed in a pneumatic tube which(by compressed air) would shoot it up to the second floor where clerks would open it& receive the money& place any change back in tube along with the tag marked paid& send it back down to counter where clerk would complete the sale. as a boy I really liked watching these missiles shoot through the tubes when I went shopping with my mother. this early example from about the 1920's is in excellent condition 11" long. made by the lamson pneumatic ... moretube co. which operated from 1882 till1976. an interesting quite different collectable from the early department store era. see sample pictures. postal fee $10.00 usa, no international shipping.
