This is one of the best ever PMT tubes i've ever came across. Even better than the hamamatsu tubes i sell! It is type B29/B10/B23. This tube measures 1 inch diameter and is 4 inches long counting pins. Everything about this tube is designed for low noise and high sensitivity. The tube has an 11 stage dynode string and voltage divider that is designed for speed and precision more than absolute sensitivity as it is setup. It will work really well with most MCA's and scalers as it is. Minimum voltage is 500. Maximum is 1500V making this suitable for most instruments. If you want to sacrifice some speed and pulse height resolution for frank sensitivity, you can very easily replace the resistors with up to 10M ohm to use with almost any geiger counter for a little time soldering, or just ask me to do it for 10megs. Military HDER G-01 Geiger counter radiation detector with Ludlum audio driver
Q.V.S. Inc. HDER G-01 Navy military surplus Geiger counter with added Ludlum audio pizeo driver and external removable sounder also has thick glass meter window as. The added Ludlum audio amplifier board is wired into the power on circuit and is off when the detector is off. Two cords, two probes and two BNC cords are included in the package. One is a NaI(Tl) gamma scintillation probe. Eberline Geiger Counter with DT-53B/PDR-27 window probe (a working unit)
This working Geiger Counter is a hobbyist assembled combination of an Eberline 3212679 laboratory grade instrument and an ex-military"RADIAC DETECTOR DT-53B/PDR-27" probe. The meter has four ranges of scaling and an earphone BNC connector is on the front panel. All scales. High voltage and threashold sensitivity are independently adjustable. The probe has a manually shiftable window cover which clips to the probe body in both open and closed positions. This is an uncalibrated meter. It will run for a very long time on 5"D" size flashlight cells. Photos two shows the background reading and photo three is the indication from a pair of radioactive lantern mantles. A very slight adjustment of the high voltage can be made. If more sensitivity is needed. The probe cable is about 55 inches long. And permenently attached inside ... morethe unit. This makes battery changing less convenient, but otherwise seems to work OK. I cannot provide any assurance that this unit is fit for a specific use, only that it appears to be in working order. Model 3, survey meter from the estate of an old geologist. NICE 6.25" Vaseline Uranium Glass Dessert Plate Geiger Counter Tested @ ~300 CPM
Your bid is for a pretty green vaseline glass dessert plate. The pattern is very fancy as you can see glowing nicely in a standard black light. It looks like it was never used much but there are a couple minor chips barely visible in first and second black light pictures. They are pretty small and easy to miss chips. From it's Uranium content. I am getting around 300 CPM(counts per minute) on my geiger counter with LND 7311"pancake" probe which is about four times more sensitive than the stock CDV700"hotdog" probe. If you have an unshielded SBM20 tube, you could see about 50% of the counts. Results will vary by device and counter, but these general ballpark numbers should give you an idea of what to expect. Goldak U238 Vintage Geiger Counter
Goldak is another one of the literally hundreds of companies that attempted to keep up with the demand for prospecting equipment during the Uranium rush of the 1950s. Most of them either folded or transitioned into other types of instruments by 1960 when the large government bonuses were discontinued. Detectron. One of the most prolific manufacturers was founded by a man who had worked for Goldak but left when they refused to go into the Geiger counter business. After seeing his success they followed suit. This is a small unit by comparison to the other models they and others made. It employed an internal 6306 GM tube. This one is damaged and not functional. This is vintage device I found in super old laboratory of nuclear physics dept. This device is one of a Atomic Demonstration Set of Nuclear Laboratory. It is called a Rutherford chamber(also called Rutherford transmutation chamber) and used to carry on an investigation of alpha particles range in various gases at several pressures. Also this chamber allows to observe transmutations of elements. Like Rutherford reaction. In fact. Rutherford was able to demonstrate, in 1919, that alpha particle could knock protons out of nitrogen nuclei and merge with what was left behind. He bombarded various gases with alpha particles and found that every once in a while an alpha particle would strike the nucleus of an atom and disarrange it. The most common isotope of nitrogen is nitrogen-14, which has a nucleus made up of 7 protons and 7 neutrons. Subtract ... morea proton and add the 2 protons and 2 neutrons of the alpha particle and you end with a nucleus possessing 8 protons and 9 neutrons. This is oxygen-17. The alpha particle can be considered as helium-4 and the proton as hydrogen-1: 14 N + α → 17 O + p. Up for sale is a very rare early manufacture CDV-700 straight from my personal collection. I'm consolidating my radiation detecting meters. And unfortunately this one must go. This is an original CDV-700 model 2. This is one of the first true high sensitivity Geiger counters purchased by the US government for use by Civil Defense during the Cold War. This model was made between 1955 and 1956. And was replaced quickly by more modern transistorized units within a few years; thus these early models that were often scrapped are prized collectors pieces for their rarity and unique retro look. They are also about 20% smaller than later models. For those who don't know. The CDV-700 series was originally designed as a training meter because in the event of a nuclear attack, radiation levels would thousands of times above the max reading for ... morethis unit rendering it useless. Above ground nuclear tests in Nevada provided the training capability for high range survey work. But risk to the people involved was very high. Monitors could train safely with low level radioactive materials and the early CDV-700's without risk of radiation sickness. However, as the long term threat of fallout and the need to decontaminate was realized, the super sensitive CDV-700 became standard issue in large fallout shelters starting in late 1958-59 with the model 5 and 6. The CDV-700 was produced through 1954-1965 and is still in use today by underfunded first responders and can be found at any US nuclear reactor. Fewer than 25,000 models 1 through 3 were produced, and most were scrapped during equipment recalls when the model 6's came out, or destroyed over time. The model 4 suffered from serious design flaws and is also very hard to find. This is a working meter taken from a model 2 Ludlum Geiger counter that had a bad main board. It displays CPM. MR/H as seen on the pictures. PRECISION RADIATION INSTRUMENTS WAS THE MOST PROLIFIC MANUFACTURER OF RADIATION DETECTION EQUIPMENT DURING THE URANIUM RUSH OF THE EARLY TO MID 1950s. This model and it's companion. The 107 were the most popular of their product line. During the half decade these models were produced they went thru three major design changes designated the 106 and 107. Then the 106 and 107 B and finally the 106 and 107 C. This is an example of the middle design. In all cases. The 106 models had an internal GM tube(the detector' and the 107 an external probe. They all used a thin wall. Metal tube designated an IB85, a fragile tube prone to imploding due to air pressure changes sometimes as harmless seeming as slamming the trunk lid of a car. Even if the body survived. The tubes have a limited lifetime and few of the originals reman functional today. ... moreThis unit is one of the few! It has an original. Tested and functional IB85 tube as well as the original headphones and check source. The radium check source has cracked a bit over the years and has been stabilized by a covering of two layers of clear packing tape. Despite being over 60 years old the battery holders show no sign that they ever held batteries and the interior components(as well as the exterior) look like they just left the factory yesterday. There is a very little bit of surface rust on the inside of the case bottom as the only hint of age. It came to me in the handmade prospectors box that people heading out to the desert sometime made to keep the parts organized. Despite the appearance and the tested tube there is no guarantee that this will function because older components sometimes failed due to age only however. Here is THE authentic. Pre-WWII Fiestaware saucer made by the Homer Laughlin Company, undeniably the most well-known radioactive plate manufacturer. It is in fair condition; mitigated by all standards by the fact that it emits an easily detectable 46,380 counts per minute. With beta window open, it was 13,800 on the LND-725 HP-270 probe, which is the modern equivalent to the CDV 700 probe. The glaze is slightly uneven, which is very rare; and in this case, substantially more radioactive. You can see the uneven glaze in the pictures; all pictures are of the actual item. The pre-war plates were made before the United States(and other countries! diverted" confiscated) uranium stockpiles to be used in the race for the atomic bomb. This halted all production of uranium-glazed ceramics until the mid fifties when companies were given back processed ... moreuranium to use in their glazes for its trademark color. There are multiple isotopes of uranium. But only one occurs naturally can be refined"enriched" and used as fuel for nuclear chain reactions. Enrichment level refers to the concentration of the uranium-235 isotope which fuel commercial power reactors throughout the world. When that precious U-235 is enriched a bit higher, it is frequently used to fuel naval reactors, research and isotope production reactors, and the dreams of crazy eccentric wanna-be imperialistic dictators all over the world. With still much more enrichment, it can be used as fuel for an atomic bomb; like the"Little Boy" bomb used against Japan in WWII. I tend to get lost on the way to reinforcing a point: the glaze contains NATURAL URANIUM as opposed to depleted uranium. And that's just awesome. More U-235 means more radioactivity as well. This very nice looking vintage Ingersoll Radiolite pocket watch does not run but it definitely ticks! Approx 3300 CPM when measured with my CDV-700 6B. Beta window open. An interesting item to test against and with some interesting history related to luminous watch dials. You would not. Of course, want to repair this watch because the radioactive paint on the dial and hands can flake and be inhaled or ingested.

S.E. Inspector USB Geiger Counter Digital Handheld Radiation Detector
For sale an almost NEW SE International Inspector USB radiation meter. I use the term"almost new" as it was removed from packaging and tested to ensure the unit powers up and used for a total of approx. 30 minutes on several occasions to measure the outdoor background radiation. The USB cable. And the CD have not even been unsealed; they are still sealed in their original packaging. The battery is still the original one. The item was bought in July 2014 to support a PhD thesis experiment that was believed to potentially create extremely small quantities of soft X-rays(less than a CRT screen) Further calculations have completely ruled out any possibility of radiation and due to other considerations the whole research topic was abandoned. The CDV-700 radiation survey meter is a sensitive low-range instrument that can be used to measure gamma radiation and detect beta radiation. It is recommended for monitoring personnel. Food and water when used in a shielded facility or in an area of low radiation background, and follow-up monitoring or areas for human habitation and food production. The instrument is also used in training programs where low radiation dose rates are encountered. Other uses may also apply. Because this instrument is designed for sensitive measurements it has very limited usefulness in areas of high radioactive contamination. The Scale Readings for this instrument are in milliroentgens per hour(mr/hr) ... moreand counts per minute(C/M) as shown on the meter. This scale is 0.5 milliroentgens per hour and 300 counts per minute respectively with the major divisions all indicated on a 50-division scale. Three(3) ranges are provided. For example in C/M. The 1st range X1, requires 300 pulses per minute for full scale indication; the second range X10, 3,000 pulses per minute; and the 3rd range X100, 30,000 pulses per minute. The instrument listed consists of the following: The Probe which comprises a nickel plated brass shield with a window which may be opened in order to admit beta radiation.
