Clean condition. The mono headphones look near-new with no problems that I can see. The cord connector screw and receiver are mint. The electronics look mint new and I guess you'll have to decide for yourself if the unit can be repaired. Both cords are supple and fine. With the installation of 4 d cell batteries and the unit turned on I get a very slight hum from inside the box and apparently that is where the problem lies. I hear that the"Check Source" on the side of the box should work to test the wand. But I could not get any response, except the humming inside the box. I don't know a thing about this kind of instrument. But it's from Dad's old collection and I think he used it in the late 1960's. The serial No. is 31306 and it must be from Vermont and the last date stamped on it. May be the last time it worked, April 1969. Hope you can use it. Apparently for PARTS ONLY and it is hard for me to believe this beautiful instrument cannot be repaired and according to some it probably and most likely can. This is a great Geiger Counter acquired from a local county surplus auction. Victoreen CDV-700. Model No. 6B. It comes with an instruction manual, shoulder strap, and earphone. It uses 4-D cell 1.5 volt batteries. I tested it according to the manual and it worked, although I don't know how correct it read. The book said to let it warm up for 30 seconds, but it seems to take 2-3 minutes. You get a reading from the test spot on the side. I also got a good reading on an old orange Fiesta plate. The pigment in Fiestaware contains uranium oxide. Batteries not included. Most 6B models have 2 batteries, this one has 4 batteries and is more similar to the 6A model, so I included the 6A manual.

The Ludlum 177 is a full function alarming rate meter. This unit operates in the field on rechargeable batteries and in the lab on AC with an included power cord. It has an alarm that is set with a rotating switch on the back. Also on the back is the access for calibration. HV adjustment, fast charge jack, and pulse out BNC. The front panel controls are volume set for counts and alarm. Range selector, X1, X10, X100, X1000) battery test. Response set, and a reset button to turn off the alarm and zero the meter. RPI 9000. Is a light weight geiger counter/ Ratemeter with a logarithmic scale and an adjustable alarm. It operates on two 9 volt batteries and has an end window probe that is effective in monitoring alpha, beta and gamma/ X-ray radiation. All electronics work and have been tested. Calibration fees vary but run around $100. If you found my listing you know what you are looking at. If found my listing and are thinking about buying a non-calibrated unit. DON'T! Just because the unit powers on and registers from the test spot doesn't mean they work. The ONLY way to know it works is to buy a calibrated unit. EBERLINE MODEL E-400 DUAL SCALE GEIGER COUNTER
This auction is for a used EBERLINE MODEL E-400 Geiger Counter. We're not familiar with these instruments. And its functional condition is unknown, so the item is being sold for parts or restoration. It operates on five Size D batteries. This testing was done: A set of alkaline cells was installed and it was noted that. When the control switch is placed in the"BATT" position, the black meter needle moves into the middle of the green battery check scale, as shown in picture#4. With the switch set at"ON, and the slide switch on the side-mounted speaker unit also turned on) clicking sounds can be heard, and the black meter pointer moves upscale- the more clicks, the more the needle appears to deflect to the right. This can be seen in photo#5. There's no movement from the red pointer at the botttom of the meter. The case ... morehas a number of scratches and the unit has apparently been well used, but the internal parts look to be in very good condition. We have no equipment or material to allow further testing, so you're bidding on a box that clicks and has an active meter. It obviously needs some work, since it responds even without being exposed to a radioactive test source. There's a handle thingie that conntects to the Geiger Counter unit with a white cable. It was disassembled by unscrewing the front section. And it was found that there's some kind of stainless steel"tube" with four prongs on one end inside. This plugs into a mating socket in the handle, which seems to be keyed so that the tube can be inserted only one way. There's what looks to be a clear film"window" for want of a better term) on the end opposite the prongs. It has a dark coating with two tiny areas that appear to have possibly flaked off; however, the window looks to be completely intact and undamaged. This component can be seen in picture#11. Mid years instruments with serial# 46567 and up this is a 1 M.A. full scale meter older instruments require 50 U.A. meters. This is an later model 1 M.A. full scale meter. Can be used with many models. If you have an earlier instrument that requires a 50 U.A. meter it can be upgraded by changing the value of 2 resistors on the main board to then use a 1 M.A. meter. I do have instructions provided by Ludlum to make the changes in PDF format. The dial can be changed by removing all 10 small flat head screws and removing the bezel than 2 small screws that hold the dial in place than reverse to reassemble. This meter has very good balance I.E. remains on 0 in any position. I dont know much about this specific clock. It is a Swiss made DELPHIN. Have a look at the pictures and see for yourself. The clock ticks when winded but I cant adjust time. It is in nice condition tho. Lovely timepiece. Radium emits alpha- Beta and gamma radiation and makes a great source to test geiger counter with or for educational purpose. With my two geiger counters. The most desirable Geiger counter units from the Civil Defense era was the Lionel 6B unit. Due to its simplicity, reliability, and because it runs off two ordinary D-cell batteries(unlike other units) Included are spare parts only, consisting of: Complete circuit board, Replacement Geiger tube, New parts. Ludlum meter assembly for older Geiger counter radiation detector 50 UA F.S.
Early years instruments with serial below# 46567 this is a 50 U.A. full scale meter later instruments require 1 M.A. meters. Salvaged from an early Ludlum model 2 notice the spade head pointer original Simpson movement. If you have an earlier instrument that requires a 50 U.A. meter it can be upgraded by changing the value of 2 resistors on the main board to then use a 1 M.A. meter. The very early all transistor instruments can't be upgraded to 1 M.A. meters. I do have instructions provided by Ludlum to make the changes in PDF format. The dial can be changed by removing all 10 small flat head screws and removing the bezel than 2 small screws that hold the dial in place than reverse to reassemble. Salvaged and restored bezel from a model 2 but can be used with others using a 50 U.A. movement.

Eberline E-120 Geiger counter radiation detector HP-270 probe + extras
Very dependable and slightly customized Eberline E-120 with HP-270 side window probe + new coil cord + Uranium test source + earphone + batteries + free shipping. This was a standby unit I took on many trips with others all over Arizona and Mexico someone either forgot to bring extra batteries or their detector broke down so it was almost always used. I no longer go on prospecting trips especially to Mexico and have many others so it just hasn't been used for several years but recently serviced and calibrated. This is a smaller detector and a lot lighter to carry than most. There have been several modifications such as a handle change out with a nicer feel rubberized metal handle. A 1/8" headphone jack was installed, and rubber pads placed in base to prevent the batteries from falling out if dropped the original clips often cut through ... morethe battery and cause them to short out so I don't use them. Pulse count calibrated on all three decades and verified with a Cs137 test source both probe and instrument together. Included is an older mono ear piece it hangs on ear and doesn't get earwax in it. Included a new coil cord that works with both BNC and MHV fittings. Included natural Uranium sample this one is Autunite and registers at 4.5 mR/hr enough to respond on all decades at near surface contact with open window through plastic container. Included 2 D size batteries that I used for calibrating and operating it they have about 10 hours use and are good and strong. Any 900 volt GM probe can be used although the dial is marked for use with this probe type 1.800 C.P.M. = 1 mR/hr other types may register higher counts and show higher than actual mR/hr readings so it would be best to use the C.P.M. count and convert for accurate mR/hr reading. The side window BETA shield can be opened or closed with one hand as opposed to most others that require both hands. Detects BETA. GAMMA, and X-RAY radiation when used with the included probe.

Before Whites was the premier metal detector manufacturer. they were an innovative maker of Geiger counter. Worried that uranium prospectors would be wondering around the desert with headphones blocking their ability to hear the warnings of rattlesnakes, Mr. White designed his counters with an integral speaker. He was one of the first. This model is one of the later ones. From 1957. Whites started making Geiger counters in 1954-55. During the time they were in the Geiger counter business it seems that no two were the same. Different colors, different meters, different features. It was if there was no standard but that makes collecting very much fun. During the last fifteen years I have owned more than 20 of these and no two were exactly the same! Although this unit may have never had batteries installed. Never been turned on, it may still ... morenot work even with new batteries. Some vintage electronic components fail only due to age.
