There is a scuff on the clear cover of the meter. This is cosmetic and does not interfere with the ability to read it. The seal inside the lid looks good with no visible cracks. Inside the CDV-700 is clean and neat as a pin. Showing no signs of corrosion from batteries, abuse, or neglect. I make every effort to take clear detailed photos so you may judge for yourself. Its appearance. Working condition: The only issue I noticed was the batteries would try to fall out from there weight. When trying to place the unit in the tub. This is an item I've often wondered why isn't seen much for sale. I suspect the inherent difficulty in adapting a Russian SBM-20 geiger tube to a CDV 700 6a setup is the reason. This is a CDV-6a with a Russian SBM-20 geiger tube. The tube has been fitted into a geiger tube holder base with a heavy duty cord and a BNC adaptor. The tube has an aluminium cover. There is an add-on speaker fitted on the meter to replace the clunky and poorly preforming he adphones. The CDV-700 6b has been modified with a 400V voltage regulator from UraniumRocks.com and a BNC female connector. The tube and CDV 700 are completely compatible. The tube is comparable in sensitivity to the regular tube that is in most Victoreen survey meters. There are 3 1/4" holes drilled down the tube that serve as gamma windows. The advantage is that Russian tubes are ... moremuch less expensive than the few sellers who offer the tube that was originally included. Prices average 15.00 on ebay site for the Russian tube. For Sale: Civil Defense(I know that's US spelling but it's US equipment! equipment. Including a CDV700 Geiger Counter, CDV715 Survey Meter, CDV750 Dose Meter(and one dose pen) The CDV700 also has a headset and two different socket adapters(phone and minijack) for the sound output. Which allows you to record the clicks via whatever recording device you like. I've also used the phone adapter with the geiger counter and a Hameg 1GHz counter to actually count the clicks and get accurate counts. Original yellow straps and photocopies of the original instructions for all three devices are included. Two different modern sounding devices are also provided free of charge. THEY DO NOT WORK. Photomultiplier Tube Reference Geiger Counter Test Source Lamp Self Powered Blue
RARE ITEM! This is a small reference source for a spectrophotometer. It is unusual in that it is self powered. And even more so that the color is a violet blue peaking near 450nm. It is not really bright, but gets the job done, i imagine the output wavelength and power is very stable since it uses no electricity. It was used with an interference filter originally that selected 450nm. The tube is small measuring about 3mm diameter by 25mm long. The wavelength output range as tested is from 422nm to about 493nm, but most of the energy is near 450nm. I also tested this with my Ludlum 3 Geiger Counter and it verified this item is mildly radioactive making about 900 CPM with my with pancake probe, hardly dangerous, but enough to use as a check source for mica window tubes. If you need a stable low level 450nm light source, or a cool looking geiger ... morecheck source this will do it. The Intenzimeter IT-65 is an army radioactivity contamination(radiac) intensity metering device used in Czechoslovak Army(ČSLA) It consists of a Geiger-Müller detector for lower range and has an internal ionisation chamber for detecting high contamination levels. It has two ranges: 0.05-500 mR/h in Geiger counter mode. And 0.05-500 R/h in ionisation chamber mode. The Geiger tube. This auction is for one vintage 1960 Victoreen Instrument Company OCDM CDV-700 Model 6 Civil Defense geiger counter. I am finally getting around to selling more of my deceased Grandfather's pieces. This unit was in the top of his spare bedroom closet. I put four brand new"D" size batteries in it and it did make some static sound in the headphone when the power switch is turned but it doesn't seem to do anything else. With that being said. I am selling this unit"as-is" as a collector's piece. The headset headphone in the pictures is included(see pictures) Cosmetically, the factory yellow finish has surface scratches and wear with two spots on the corners of one side that have yellow paint loss(see pictures) All in all, it still looks pretty good for it's age. Victoreen Model 90 Geiger Counter, excellent condition
I have this Victoreen Model 90 Geiger counter that I came by through an auction. Looks brand new. No scratches, dents or anything. It has an LND 720 GM tube in a 493-50 probe. Pictures show outside and inside. Pictures also show it reading a fiestaware plate with beta shield open, radium clock dial with beta shield closed, HV reading on dial just under 1 KV, radium dial with beta shield open. Batteries not included but it uses 2"D" cell batteries. Does not have a calibration sticker on it. Really nice unit and I should probably keep it but I have a nice Ludlum model 3 with 2 probes so I will sell this one. Will ship well packed in a medium flat-rate box. Here is THE authentic. Pre-WWII Fiestaware saucer made by the Homer Laughlin Company, undeniably the most well-known radioactive plate manufacturer. It is in fair condition; mitigated by all standards by the fact that it emits a blazing 102,720 counts per minute. The glaze is slightly uneven, which is very rare; and in this case, substantially more radioactive. You can see the uneven glaze in the pictures; all pictures are of the actual item. The pre-war plates were made before the United States(and other countries! diverted" confiscated) uranium stockpiles to be used in the race for the atomic bomb. This halted all production of uranium-glazed ceramics until the mid fifties when companies were given back processed uranium to use in their glazes for its trademark color. There are multiple isotopes of uranium. But only one occurs naturally ... morecan be refined"enriched" and used as fuel for nuclear chain reactions. Enrichment level refers to the concentration of the uranium-235 isotope which fuel commercial power reactors throughout the world. When that precious U-235 is enriched a bit higher, it is frequently used to fuel naval reactors, research and isotope production reactors, and the dreams of crazy eccentric wanna-be imperialistic dictators all over the world. With still much more enrichment, it can be used as fuel for an atomic bomb; like the"Little Boy" bomb used against Japan in WWII. I tend to get lost on the way to reinforcing a point: the glaze contains NATURAL URANIUM as opposed to depleted uranium. And that's just awesome. More U-235 means more radioactivity as well.
