Thermolyne HP-11515B Explosion Proof Hot Plate. Tested, Working Class 1 Group D
Up for sale is my Thermolyne Sybron Model HP-11515B Explosion Proof Hot Plate. Tested and Working, for Class 1 Group D Environments. Prior to listing I tested this by setting the dial to 100. 150 and 200 Celsius. There was a small amount of play in the knob, but it did not affect function. At each setting, the thermostat shut off the power once the desired temperature was reached(confirmed with a clamp-type ammeter) and the temperature(as measured with a cooking thermometer) was within 2-3 degrees of that set. The only negative things that I can find to say are mainly cosmetic- there is some staining. Some faded writing in magic marker and a very small amount of surface corrosion on the metal foot as pictured. Finally, the power cord is short- approx. 1 foot long. Some large sized explosion proof lights. These came out of a former GDP factory, probably munitions, and a striking pieces. The pictures(shot in good sunlight) have unfortunately highlighted the surface rust on the cage, it is very superficial when you see it. I will make sure to clean them up a bit more before sending out. These lights have a Honex glass, almost indestructible it's thick, strong and the glass has no chips or marks of note. The catch to release the glass is a bit tricky, and once done you have to undo the screw on the opposite side ... moreto access inside. Some have different writing inside, to coin a phrase"it's all German to me" some say explosion proof or similar some do not, they all are I am sure. Inside the large lamp holder does in fact take a standard size E27 screw in bulb, the connecting points are in excellent order, near new. According to the plate they take up to 100 Watt bulbs, I know if I kept one I would stick a large round long life bulb in there for a really funky look. The outlet lugs vary, some are covered some not, the opposite ones have 2 different types as well. I do my best to match items when people buy quantities but each light is rather unique. Please note these lights are not suitable for wet area's(bathrooms) or heavily exposed outdoor area's. The seals are good. But these lights are not rated for wet area's. I would say these are best suited to covered area's or dry indoor use as this is safest and will best prolong their life. The mounting plates have a single fixing making the light sit away from the wall. You could modify this be removing and creating recesses into the wall for a flush fit quite easily using the right sized drill bit. If you want more

Here is a lamp and doughboy helmet from the Snead& Co. Iron Works of Jersey City. New Jersey. It is made of a 75mm French American shell from the Morgan Explosion at the factory. It is stamped on the outside Victory Nov. 11, 1918 75mm Shell. This is unusable and has never had any explosives in it. This is factory made. The label on the bottom says 75 M/M Victory Lamp Manufactured by the Snead& Co. Iron Works Jersey City New Jersey. Founded in 1859. This lamp was made from a genuine US Goverment French-American 75 M/M shell saved from the Morgan Explosion. Snead lamps are patented as follows April 22, 1919& June 3, 1919& other patents pending.
