The laser goes between 1.0 joule and 6.0 joules in one step. This has never presented any problem for me to do capsulotomies without damaging the intraocular lens. It has also been used to create peripheral iridotomies.

High Power Coherent VLOC Mirror Coated Nd:Yag Laser Rod 50J Peak Energy Output
This is a Nd:Yag laser rod with mirror coated ends. The rod is about 1/4 inch diameter and 4 inches long It was originally part of a machine that welded electrodes inside vacuum tubes. It can produce pulsed energy up to 50J with powers peaking into the multiple tens of kilowatts. The OC end has slight damage from improper cleaning. But it does not significantly affect the use of this rod for a hobby laser. Mirror coated laser rods are extremely rare and hard to find. The laser rod needs a strong flash lamp to drive it since the dopant level is quite high. I had good luck firing the rod with the flash lamp in my other listing plus 1250V 250uF with 75 turns of 10 gauge wire as the smoothing choke/trigger transformer. The output of this rod makes those SSY-1 lasers look like a bug zapper compared to an arc welder. Where the SSY1 will flash and ... moresmoke stuff, this one will actually light the smoke on fire and burn all the way through electrical tape in one shot without focusing. Coherent FAP-I diode laser with fiber delivery
For Sale. Coherent FAP-I. 25Watt 808nm laser diode system with Thermal Electric cooling and associated electronics in the package. The cover is removed to show the internal parts. Although I don't have the exact power reading from testing– it is a 25w module. It is a few years old but I have had this in controlled storage and it is unused. This also comes with the proper fiber optic cable for this FAP-I. Because of the way the 19 diodes launched into 19 fibers are bundled in to the ferrule. The mating ferrule on the single 800um fiber has to be exactly the right length, so they don’t crash into the bundle. This is the proper fiber with armor and anti-reflective coatings to get almost 99% transmission from fiber. Because of nature of laser diodes, no returns on this. No international shipping.

Chances are that you've never seen one of these, and likely have never heard of one of these either. SO. WHAT IS IT? Coherent was a designer and manufacturer of laser systems(actually they are still in business today) And in the early 1980s, they used the Commodore PET as the basis for their computer controlled medical laser systems. This machine started its life as a. And as it stands, it is a fully functional PET 4032-12. To this. Coherent added a custom laser control board and a custom'COHERENT' name badge on the front of the machine. I sold one of these machines earlier this year. And these two are the only I have ever laid my eyes on. I had planned on keeping this one, in my collection ... moreforever. But current financial situations dictate that I must thin down my collection yet again. What about the condition? This machine is near pristine. There is a small chip of paint missing just to the left of the SHIFT LOCK key. But with the right touchup paint. No one will ever notice. There is also a small ding at the corner near the keypad. Otherwise, we are talking absoulte MINT condition. The real amazement begins once you open the lid. The beauty looks are incredible as it did on the day that it rolled off the assembly line.
