For your consideration. Antique John Deere E 1-1/2 HP stationary gasoline hit miss farm engine on wooden skids I took it mostly apart last fall and cleaned it out and put new oil and gas in it. I tried to fix the gas tank- but it is still leaky. This engine needs an oil pan. Appears to be a very old restoration- had it running last fall- has good compression& has a good mag. The water jacket/hopper appears to have been repaired some time in the past. You will also need a spring for the trip finger. The bearings seem to be good. There is an old weld on the rocker arm(picture 6) Serial number(279549) dates this engine to 1928 according to the information I found online. We have here a Galloway 6 HP Hit and Miss Engine. Looking at pics of others I think its a Masterpiece 6.Has been in inside storage for decades. I have not tried(or know how to) start it. The gentleman I bought it from said he can remember his dad running it when he was young. I have not cleaned it at all. It does turn over easily and looks complete less the cylinder oiler.It has the webster tri-polar magneto. The fuel tank has been changed. It is on trucks but I doubt it is a factory original. The front wheels have dried concrete on them so it probably ran a mixer. Took plenty of pics to show the good condition. If you have any questions I will try to answer as best I can.
