Great vintage Levin watchmakers precision mini-vise with adjustable screw levelers. Made of high quality tool steel. Jaws are 1" wide and open 1/2" Table is 1" high. Workholder for watchmaker or can now be used as a leveling sample holder for dimensional layout inspection. A knowledgable eBayer has informed me that this is a"watchmakers poising tool and not a vise. The jaws that are agate or ruby are designed to place the pivots of a balance wheel on. And the balance released to find the heavy spot to correct the poise of the balance. The top edges of the stone jaws should be smooth with no nicks on them, and usually a fingernail is run along them to check for the nicks.
