Maytag Model 92 gas engine. Antique hit and Miss 2 cycle.
Description: Selling a Maytag model 92 in good. Un-restored condition. I bought this at an auction 15 years ago for my grandfather as he enjoys them. He is thinning his maytag flock a little now. Serial Number 563060 means it was made in May 1934. He had it running great about 5 years ago. Since I knew I would likely be shipping it. I did not want to fill the tank up with fuel. I squirted a little fuel in the carburetor throat and it fired easily. Here is a video of it running: Excuse the smoke. I mixed the oil a little heavy since it hadn't been started in a while. Condition: Missing air filter. But otherwise looks complete. I did notice the spark plug wire said Packard on it. Not sure if that is the correct wire, or if a Packard automobile wire has been used on it. Has a nice patina to it. But still has the Maytag dark green in places. ... moreOverall. A nice engine. Waterloo Boy 2 H.P. Type H Hit and Miss Gas Engine, John Deere Engine
Up for auction here is a 2 horse power Waterloo Boy hit and miss gas engine. This is known as the John Deere built Waterloo Boy and has the JD cast in the block. There are no cracks breaks or welds I can find anywhere on the engine. It is not locked up but I have not had it running. It will need a new fuel line. It has the Wizard magneto. Both the mag and igniter are good. The magneto has been rebuilt by Adrians's Magneto Service out of Lancaster. MN. at a cost of $212.00 I have the receipt for the mag rebuild which will be included. This engine also has a good drip oiler, belt pulley, and will come with a tin crank guard that bolts to the engine block. There are 2 nice brass tags that are very readable. It is from about 1910 and measures about 1 13/16 x 1 5/8 inches tall and is in excellent condition with minor overall wear from it's years of service. The back says"International Harvester Company of America" and has all of their products listed including haying machines. Binder twine, tillage implements, gasoline engines, manure spreaders, corn binders, shredders, shellers, auto buggies, auto wagons, roadsters, cream separators, hay presses, wagons, trucks, feed grinders, and best of all, gasoline tractors! This is a really neat reproduction booklet or catalog called"IHC Spraying Outfits" It measures about 7 3/4 x 9 3/4 inches and has 16 pages. It has many illustrations of the spraying outfits that International Harvester offered in about 1915 including the 1 and 2hp air cooled and 1 and 2hp watercooled in both skidded and portable versions. It has many working photos of the engines in the orchards and vineyards. It also has specifications. Recipes for sprays, and instructions for spraying. It's a pretty neat catalog. It has minor wear and creasing from it's years in a collection but nothing that affects any of the information it contains. The pictures tell the story. You won't be disappointed in any way. This is a really neat old book called the"McCormick Deering Gas Engine Handbook" It measures about 6 x 9 inches and has 64 pages. It covers every aspect of construction. Operation, and rebuilding of the International Harvester Type M gas engines! It is heavily illustrated and is a must have for anyone that has an M or is rebuilding one! I don't know when it was published but it says on the first page that it was copied from the original at the library at the University of California, Davis. It is in great condition with very minor soiling and wear. The pictures tell the story. You won't be disappointed in any way. Good Luck.

This is a special. Restored correctly Maytag, with RECHARGED MAGNETS! in the wheel for optimum spark. A lot of these engines get restored looking real nice, but this important step is overlooked, seeing access to a magnet recharger is just NOT available. What you end up with is a 70 year old weak spark that keeps the engine from running like it should. This one sparks LIKE NEW! so you'll be lucky to have it as one to own! In my opinion too the SHORT BASES look much better and are more desirable then the longer bases, they just look more balanced, so again a plus!
