Scientific American was a leading science and technology publication of the 19th century which is still in print today. Each issue is a large over sized format richly illustrated with numerous engravings. These issues are original antiques published well over 100 years ago. There will typically be some toning of the paper from age as well as a few small nicks or chips on the edges but these issues are all 100% complete. Solidly intact and in good to very good shape overall. Antique tractor, Home Built Like 1947 Gibson, Clinton 2500 Engine, Parade Ready
Here's a home built antique looking tractor that is very similar to a 1947 Gibson A. It is a three speed. One reverse, with a Clinton 2500 model gas motor, Serial 5029201-B, runs very good, no smoke, pull start. The tractor was built as a snow plow, but I found the rear wheels don't have enough traction for the front blade 57" X 17" The ratchet(on the handle) for the blade to go up and down have some teeth sheered off after I was doing some heavy work pushing down brush. It can be fixed, but the design is light duty and apparently never tested with heavy work. Top speed is about 15 mph(not certified speed, just estimate) and fun to drive if nothing else. The rear axle measures 55" outside to outside) front axle 45" wheel base 56" center front axle to center rear axle) and approximate weight 750 lbs. Antique Postcard Of Case Engine On An Incline At A Fair The printed B&W post card is captioned below the picture: Souvenir of the Fair- CASE Engine Doing Stunts. The message written below the picture is: Up and down a 45% Grade. Stopping any place he wanted to. Quite a stunt. The card has an undivided back and was posted and has the message written on the front. The card was postmarked Sept 3. 1907 in Detroit, Mich. and mailed to Cameron, Missouri. The card is yellowed, has slight corner dings, the stamp has been removed resulting in some surface paper loss at the stamp area, and the front has cancelation ink on it as well. I am in the processing of liquidating my Mother's Estate. I have been selling many antique photos and have just come across an extremely large number of antique/ vintage post cards. Nice old antique Briggs LI or L1 hit miss engine like Maytag others
This is a very nice example of a Briggs LI enigne. There no brocken fins on this engine wich is pretyty uncomon. The carb looks great the gov arm isn't broke I turned it over and got a nice jolt I was tole it ran but I didn't run it my self. It will need a fuel tank but I think that is all it is missing. Lauson Antique Gas Stationary Engine - Motor
This 1939. Lauson Built, cast iron motor was sold as a Montgomery/Ward product. The Lauson name is cast into the crankcase, but MW put their name on the ID tag. It starts with one pull and runs very well. No smoke, no misfires. It runs just like it should. I completely restored it and painted it while disassembled. The round gas tank has some small dents that I was unable to remove due to lack of internal access. Mounted on a solid oak board. Great show engine if you belong to a club. federal signal siren vintage antique hot rod rat rod fire engine IT WORKS!!!
You are bidding on a vintage federal signal siren. I am not sure of the model number or if it is 6 or 12 volt. But i believe it is 12 volt because it worked when i grounded the bracket on the negative battery terminal. Many 6 volt systems used positive ground. I briefly(literally 1 second) hooked it up to a 12 volt battery and it worked. It is missing the dust cover which I assume had the identification tag on it. The original bracket appears to have a small crack beginning in it which I tried to show in the pictures. Can be easily repaired by someone with a TIG welder. The grill has a slight dent in it but can be pushed out with a block of wood. Great vintage piece! Thanks!

ANTIQUE 1937 MAYTAG RESTORED VINTAGE GAS ENGINE HIT AND MISS WRINGER WASHER
Last year I had sold just about all of my Maytag engines off ebay. Up for sale is a very nice Maytag Model 72 long frame Antique hit miss Gas Engine. The flywheel has serial# 816216 stamped on it which was in production 1937. I have been restoring these engines for over 12 years now and I sell a lot of them. I also used to restore Maytag ringer washers and put Maytag motor's on themas well. This engine was completely taken apart and sand blasted and bead blasted clean and painted with DuPont paint. I take a lot of pride in these motors and I like to do a little extra detailing like the lettering and some of the numbers as you can see in the pictures. I think it makes the motor's stand out better. Lots of people like to take the same pictures as I do and try to confuse the buyer. I don't like the way they do things but I have no ... morecontrol of that. But I put my own trade mark on my engines then I know it is on that I restored proper. It has new rings, condenser, spark plug wire with new ends, new spark plugs. I also honed out the Cylinder jugs. This engine has been restored and freshly painted and the tank and top plate was sealed so it will not rust again. I did have pictures of tank and top plate after they were seal but could not find them so I put a picture of the last 72 tank so you can see what it will look like. I do not paint the flywheels like some people. After putting it all back together I ran 1 tank of fuel through it and it runs just fine. Detailing with the correct decals finished it. I cannot put a warranty on these motors do to the age of them BUT I will guarantee it will run great for you when you get it and keep running well. I have sold a lot of motors and washers and never had a complaint yet. All it needs now is fuel and you can start it with your hand, it is that easy to start. The kick peddle will be unbolted while in shipping so you would have to bolt it back on. The buyer agrees to pay an extra $35.00 packing fee. The cylindrical body is cut with a chevron pattern of staggered cogwheel like turnings. The crown like screw lid, is very finely worked with*cattle bone* eye-vor-ree) rim, set with lignum vitae disc and further rings to the centre, scalloped, beaded and detailed borders, the matching foot rim is also in*cattle bone* eye-vor-ree) with good natural grain and colour. Taylor Vacuum Hit and Miss Engine.This is an earlier model. There is a Taylor registry and there are right at 100 engines listed,90 of them have a serial number higher than this one(4 digit see photos) I can find no cracks,breaks or repairs except the rocker shows a braze that is very old and is solid. The cylinder seems good with most of the compression going out the exhaust valve.Nothing is stuck but the valves will need attention.The carburetor is there and so is the needle valve.Looks like all the trip parts for the missing Wico are there. Please ask questions and feel free to call. I can put it on a pallet or take it to Fastenal. I can store it for a month or two and in June I'm driving to Denver by way of Salt Lake City and Reno if that helps anyone. Old 3 1/2hp Lauson Alpha Hit Miss Gas Engine Antique Motor Steam Tractor WOW
This is a 3 1/2hp John Lauson/Alpha Model W hit and miss gas engine. It is a true hit and miss engine and was built by the John Lauson Company for the DeLaval Dairy Supply Company. It is a restoration project that was started and needs to be finished. It is mostly complete except it is missing the Wico EK magneto as can be seen but these turn up quite frequently here on Ebay. It has the correct hinged cast iron crank guard. The piston and rod are out because the wrist pin came loose at some point and scored the cylinder. The grooves have been JB welded and it needs to be honed back out. The fella that did this had very good luck with this method on several other engines. There is a repair on the detent pivot and on the rocker arm as can be seen. The head has already been repaired. The engine has been repainted at some point in its working ... moreday. It needs some other small generic engine parts like valve springs. Keepers, and some new head studs as three of the originals are twisted off. With a little patience and time this should be a pretty straightforward project. These are very good running engines when they are dialed in. The 3 1/2hp is the largest of the W series and is quite tough to find compared to the 1 1/2 and 2 1/2hp sizes. The pictures tell the story. I can deliver this to Baraboo, WI, Portland, IN, or Coolspring, PA, later this year for free. I can also ship it quite reasonably through Fastenal. Vintage antique gas engine-PINCOR-1940s-nice runner!!
Here is a nice little engine- a Pincor that was made in the late 1940s. Mount on a wooden base with handles. This engine runs great and is easy to move around and take to the engine shows. The engine has been well cared for over all these years shows no signs of abused of any kind, and appears to have its original paint as well. When I got this it had not been run in several years. I changed the oil, put a little gas in the tank and after a few pulls on the rope, she started right up! The box has some very cool looking original brass latches and the hinges are also made of brass. The center lock on the box does not work but the box holds closed with the latches. There is a crack in the wood along the bottom of the box but the box is very solid. Old Antique Goulds Burrall Cast Iron #2 Corn Sheller Hit Miss Gas Engine WOW!
This is an original BURRALL's corn sheller made by Goulds Manufacturing Company in Seneca Falls. New York. It is the"IMPROVED" version. It is made almost entirely of cast iron. It turns over nicely with mild wear in the bearings and shells corn just fine. It was patented in 1863 and is one of the most unusual and sought after corn shellers by collectors. It is a Number 2 and stands about 43 1/2 inches tall. It needs one minor weld repair and has a slight chip where the cob comes out that I have tried to point out in the pictures. These shellers hardly ever turn up in the wild or even at swap meets as most are already in collector hands. This would be a fine addition to your early farm implement collection or display. Antique Nash gasoline engine hit and miss brass tag and ad circa 1910
Nice old curved brass Nash engine tag. Measures 7 x 3/12 inches and the old engine ad is an original also from a 1910 magazine. The tag is off a 20 hp engine with 3369 as the serial number. I do not know the age of the tag but it must date to the early 1900's to correspond to the magazine ad. The tag has never been cleaned and has that over 100 year patina. Original Wico EK Magneto Armature Cover Hit Miss Gas Engine Antique Motor
This is a pretty decent original Wico EK magneto armature cover. These are quite often missing or completely beat up. This one isn't perfect but it's pretty decent and with a little patience I think could be made to look pretty good. It has two dents in the front of it which I think could be straightened out fairly easily. All of the mounting tabs are still on it which is fairly unusual. I don't think anyone reproduces these so take a look at the pictures and decide if you need it. Good luck.

I bought these hit miss engine parts at an estate sale and my knowledge is limited. They came with a box of oilers so. I guess they are for a hit miss engine. They range from 2" to 4 1/4" long. All pieces are solid brass, and there's two valves, two caps and a long piece. They are all in good condition and the glass, in the large piece is good. All have some light corrosion.
