First the details: Manufactured by Varian Medical Systems for digital radiography and realtime video X-Ray imaging, it was to be used in a system for inspection of industrial products. I was asked to check the equipment out 4 years ago after it was acquired by a company I did contract work for. Prior to that the item was NOS and the boxes it came in were unopened and no software was provided with it. Though eventually I was able to acquire several versions of Varian VISA OS and the software for the EPIX card. The EPIX card is only needed to enhance the Paxscan to producing 30 frames/sec realtime X-ray video. Otherwise the Paxscan will work a a radiography imager at 1 frame/sec. The 2520 imaging ... moremodule has 1900X1500 active pixels over a 10" X 8" area with a fill factor of 50% This model communicates over a fiber optic cable. The Issue: I cannot get the command processor to communicate with a computer. Which it must do through a LAN port. So it never gets past the software running which recognizes that the processor is there but won't communicate with it. I'm no IT person and perhaps I couldn't set the port protocall up correctly. Or than again there may be corrupted firmware in the command processor. Unlikely since the system was new when I received it. The serial port does work but is only good for uploads and status. Someone more knowledgeable than I might be able to get it operational. Though don't expect any help from Varian Medical Systems. The EPIX card does work and so do the drivers and software. All the software is on a flashdrive along with abundant and redundant software and information. All the cables. Fiber-optic and for the Epix card are provided except the LAN cable, which may or may not need to be of the crossover type. That information is on the flash drive.
