Closed air port and it held the air for 30 minutes when we released the air to take inside pictures. We do not have the necessary resources to further test this unit. Large Cold Trap - Labconco - for vacuum pump or oven protection NW16 fittings
Nice large stainless steel cold trap. This unit is much larger than the other unit i listed. Has two NW16/ KF16/ QF16 connectors for easy connection to vacuum pumps. These are usually placed before a vacuum pump to prevent vapors from reaching the pump oil. Can be used to capture volatile compounds like terpenes from vacuum chambers. The cavity is filled with dry ice and some organic solvent that does not freeze easily(acetone. Ethanol, IPA, methanol ect) The vapors on the vacuum side will condense on the cold metal and collect in the pot. I vacuum tested this cold trap by hooking it up to a rotary vacuum pump. I managed to pull a vacuum of 0.085 millibar(very low. Probably as low as my pump goes) Note: does not come with vacuum gauge/ display shown in last picture. This was just for testing purposes)

Stainless steel metal cold trap. It has NW16/ KF16/ QF 16 flanges on both sides for easy connection to vacuum systems. These traps are usually connected before a vacuum pump to capture volatile compounds before they reach the vacuum pump oil. The metal cavity gets filled with dry ice and a solvent that doesn't freeze(acetone. IPA, Ethanol, Methanol or similar) to cool the metal and vapors on the vacuum side will condense on the cold metal. Great to hook up between a vacuum oven and a vacuum pump for example. There are a couple scuff marks on the casing and the temperature dial has a chuck cracked off. But it is otherwise undamaged. Fisher Scientific Vacuum Oven 48 Up for auction is a used Fisher Scientific Vacuum Oven 48 that is in good physical condition. There are a couple scratches and scuff marks on the casing. I set it to the max temperature setting and let it set for a while. It heated up fairly quickly and reached a temperature of approximately 120C. One thing I did notice is that the"heating" light and"not heating" light blinked instead of being a solid color which indicates they might need to be replaced soon. Next. I closed ... moreoff the purge valve, opened the vacuum valve and used a vacuum pump to suck all of the air out and bring the pressure to a little over 25 inches(mercury) at about 2000' altitude. The pressure only dropped 0.3" in the first couple minutes and then held solid for the rest of the duration I was testing indicating an air tight seal.
