The CEQ-8000 is a Capillary Electrophoretic analyzer that determines the base sequence and fragment length of DNA samples prepared with dye-labeled reagents. The CEQ-8000 uses two lasers to detect fluorescence in eight capillaries and accepts up to 96 four-color samples in a microplate. This system automatically denatures and separates samples and replaces the separation medium in the capillaries after each separation. It uses easily replaced cartridges for the separation gel supply. Which greatly reduces errors introduced by inconsistent gel medium and minimizes preparation time for analysis runs. Raw and analyzed data can be viewed using various software utilities and are stored in a database, and also may be exported to external analysis ... moreapplications. This system was decommissioned from the university research lab of a professor that retired. The system is complete with a data system loaded with Beckman CEQ 8000 Genetic Analysis Software. I removed the panels and thoroughly inspected the unit. And it is in excellent condition, with no signs of reagent spills or physical damage. The machine was decommissioned properly with plugs in the manifold and cartridge pump; the log entries in the software show that the capillary and gel cartridge plugs were installed in 2009, and if this is correct the gel tubing may need to be cleaned or replaced. It did not come with consumables(capillaries, waste bottles, or gel cartridges) so testing was limited to functionality that could be ascertained without actually running a sample, as follows: The system initializes and homes the plate carrier and comes to the ready state. The system detects the state of system components(doors, covers, plate carrier, temperatures, lasers, etc. correctly.
