This is a very cool all copper and brass steam sterilizer/ sanitizer autoclave for surgical instruments from the turn of the 19th century. Very Steam punk. Marked"WOODWARD CLARKE& CO" Portland Oregon on tag at top of door. Each outlet on the top is marked as well. Two are labeled LEAVE OPEN. One labeled Fill HERE, One labeled THERMOSTAT amd one labeled THERMOMETER. The latch and hinges are solid. The right side has a spicket and a glass sight tub setup, the glass is missing but could be easy replaced. The left side has a sliding vent. The door is about one inch thick and has the original intact cloth or leather gasket. There is an electrial heater eliment that is not wired in located on the bottem of the box. The construction is all copper and brass, I have not cleaned but it would shine bright with a little work. The shelf ... moreinside is also copper and is removable. The door is built like a frame and looks like it was made to except a label, mirror or advertisment. I have never seen one of these before.
