The lens and lens cell are in very nice condition. As you can see the dew shield has chips in the white finish, but it is not dented and retains it's roundness. The lens cover has a crack in the plastic which has been successfully bonded.

Vtg. Ernst Leitz Wetzlar Germany Objective Lens Stage Slide Monocular Microscope
You are bidding on a Vintage Microscope. I know little to nothing about microscopes but I googled the markings and I will attempt to describe this to the best of my abilities. I got this from an Old Estate Sale. This was a quality sale of well kept items. I believe this microscope to be vintage but I have no idea how old it actually is. I do not know if all of the parts and pieces on this are original to this microscope or not. I also do not know if there are pieces missing from this microscope. This Microscope measures approx. 10 1/4" tall when in its lowest position. The bottom base lens is rounded. The round opening this lens sits in measures approx. 2 5/16" across. This round opening has an approx. 1/8" metal band sleeve around it. This metal band sleeve has 4 approx. 1/16" round holes and these holes appear to be ... morethreaded. This rounded lens can be raised and lowered by moving the lever on the side(under the stage part the slide would lay on) This lever reads Schwach- Vergr- Stark. When the lever is on the Stark end the rounded lens is all the way down and it raises as you slide the lever towards Schwach. The piece which I believe is called the Slide Holder is engraved Ernst Leitz Wetzlar Germany. This has two knobs. One knob moves the slide holder side to side and the other knob moves it in and out. These move with precisioned ease when turning in either direction. there are three lenses on this. Two are chrome looking and one is black. These are threaded into a disc which allows you to move them around. Each will stop when you get to the shaft eyepiece. The black lens is unmarked. One lens is marked Leitz Wetzlar Germany 170/0.17 C 25/0.50. One lens is marked Leitz Wetzlar Germany 170/ C 10/0.25. There is a threaded knob on a shaft that. Excellent condition. Some dust. Very little use. The lens cell has 3 threaded holes and 3 unthreaded holes so the mounting is can be collimated. Very well built solid aluminum cell. I estimated the bottom of cell outside diameter is about 4.5" The recess depth is about 3/16" The flange is about 3/8" wide and the holes are all in this flange. Including the flange width the max cell width is 5.25" approx. The whole cell is about 1.5" thick. Approximate estimated measurements only. If you need an exact measurement ask me and I will get out my calipers. The lens is'fully multicoated' as just about all objectives are now. I had this operational in a cardboard scope tube with a 1.25" focuser borrowed from a generic 60mm scope. This objective is impressive. With a number indicating the selection in a small window(marked 1 to 6) Estimated to date from mid-late 18th Century. Please see description and diagram of pages describing the Jones Improved and Most Improved microscope on plate IV from the George Adams Jr. 1787 publication Essays on the Microscope.
