Eight of these rolls were manufactured at the Hawthorne Works located in Chicago Ill. The large five pound roll was manufactured by Nassau. The eight rolls manufactured at the Hawthorne Plant are stamped on both side of the reels. The box and spool are marked QQ-S-571E SN 60 WRMA P-2.050. I'm unclear as to what most of this means, but from what I can gather, the latter part indicates this has a.050" wire diameter, and I believe the SN 60 means this is 60% Tin. The box also states: The flux residue after soldering is non-corrosive. Non-conductive, and non-hygroscopic and need not be removed. I don't know how old this might be. I'm trying this posting again- my friends at eBay took down my posting last evening because they decided that the solder that I am selling is apparently"hazardous" material. For Auction is a Lot of 3 one-pound spools of 95% Tin/ 5% Antimony Solder- all have been used. The remaining material weighs over 2-3/4 lb including the metal spools. So I am estimating that there is 2-1/2 pounds of solder. The one spool is branded Dutch Boy, the other two are unbranded. There is some corrosion, especially on the metal spools, but the solder is obviously fully useable. Most of the items I sell are from estate sales. Auctions, flea markets, etc. I clean them as necessary to properly evaluate the condition and allow you to judge the actual item rather than a previous owner’s dirt. Vintage Acid Core Plumbing Solder Lot, Approximately 22 oz. of Solder
For Auction is a Lot of 2 one-pound spools of vintage Acid Core Solder- both have been used. The remaining material weighs 24.7 oz. including the metal spools. So I am estimating that there is 22 oz of solder. The one spool is branded Kester, Kester Solder Company Chicago and the other is Standard Easy Flow, New York Solder Co. Neither spool is labeled with the alloy but most of the older acid core I have seen is 40% Tin/ 60% Lead. There is considerable corrosion of the tins and some on the exterior of the solder, probably helped along by the acid core flux, but the solder is fully useable. Most of the items I sell are from estate sales. Auctions, flea markets, etc. I clean them as necessary to properly evaluate the condition and allow you to judge the actual item rather than a previous owner’s dirt.
