Paring down the collections of audio equipment. Philips Turntable from the 1980's Direct Control family. AF677: semi-automatic. Belt-drive push-button control, damped cueing. 2 speeds 33 1/3 and 45 rpm. Has an integrated stylus force gauge/ arm rest. But recommend a real stylus force gauge to properly setup tracking force. DC servo motor with isolation, and speed control from the platter rotation instead of the more common motor feedback. Made during the 1980's, very unusual design for the time. This is a semi-auto shut-off/ manual turntable. Shuts off at the end of a record. Turns on when tonearm is moved into play. Tonearm is low mass. Neutral balanced ... moredesign with low friction bearings. Utilizes opto-interuptor for shutoff detection. Detachable head shell. Included is a Sonus Blue moving magnet. Still regarded as a high quality cartridge. Comes w/ stylus protector. This cartridge requires a normal MM phono input. Will be shipped with counterweight. Platter, and headshell removed. Has 45prm adapter. Turntable has integrated stylus force gauge that does work. But I would use a more accurate gauge to set stylus force(about 1.75gm) Cuing. Anti-skate, all work well. Defects include some hazing and faint marks on the dust cover as shown. Corner has cracks(repaired) as shown in pictures. Overall the dust cover is good condition. The rest of the unit shows minimal wear. Weakest part of this turntable is(was) the plastic base which was replaced by a wood base. This is a custom wood base made especially for this unit! Nice basic turntable which provides decent isolation and sound compared to many(even new) comparable units. Please contact be regarding international shipping.
