This amp is in excellent condition and comes with Sovtek and Groove tubes also a Accutronics 3 spring reverb tank. The amp will be fully tested and the bias set before shipping. Head cabinets are available from Carvin the SX or X 100B series will work just flip them it and swap the handle and feet around. 1970 Fender Twin Reverb Combo Amp -- Working Chassis Project -- New Tubes
For Auction/Sale- 1970 Fender Twin Reverb 85 watt non-master volume amp/chassis only. It has a new set of 4 power tubes and 4 new 12AX7 preamp tubes. The two 12AT7 tubes are not new. I bought this amp about 6 years ago and at that time had it checked out by a tech, he replaced everything that needed to be replaced at that time: the reverb transformer was replaced, the large filter caps on top of the chassis were replaced, a 3 prong 10 ft grounded power cord was installed. Also, at some point in the past the silverface panel was replaced with a blackface panel. The rest of the amp seems to be original, with no mods, all the components on the circuit board are original, the 3 other transformers are original and date to mid-1970, the stamp on the chassis date the making of the chassis to 1970. In my opinion this was the last year of the really ... moregood sounding twins, around 1971-72 they increased the wattage and installed a master volume on these amps and they never sounded the same after that. In my opinion the 1969-70 Twins sound better than the blackface twins, they have a little more headroom, more clarity and better tone. Everything works on this amp, the TREMOLO, REVERB, inputs, outputs, switches, controls ALL work and the amp has that incredable clean tone you would expect from an early silverface and begins to breakup nicely when pushed, has good bottom end and enough power to easily push a 412 cab if needed. However, it will need to be checked out as it has developed a noise that shouldn't be there that occures from time to time. It sat unplayed for about 4 years and when i brought it out of storage i noticed it was making a slight noise periodically. I've narrowed it down to what i believe to be the problem to a short in one or two of the caps on the circuit board which are marked with a piece of tape, see photo#8. In the past month i have played through it and also left it turned on with a guitar plugged in for hours at a time with no other problems that i have noticed. Also the weight of

Three RCA 6550 Tubes
Three vintage RCA 6550 tubes with the metal collar made in the USA. These tubes tested good with no shorts and gas and good for emissions and mutual conductance on my testing devices:a Hickok 533. And a Sencore TC130. When tested through an amp circuit they all pull about the same amount of current meaning that they are a fairly matched trio. One tube is missing a guide pin which does not affect it's performance. All three are identical make and have the same date code 7704. In the pictures it appears that they are different sizes due to the camera angle but they're exactly the same. Thanks for looking. This fully serviced and original example features it's original tube set including the red silvertone logo'd RCA made in USA pre-amp tubes. dated 43rd week of 63) and Silvertone logo'd RCA power tubes. 64-09 and may not be original) It also features Exceeding rare dark Charcoal Leatherette not the usual" GREY LEATHERETTE" style seen on the 64 to 68 models and OEM factory Correct WOOD Footswitch! It also has a darker Wheat Grill cloth than 64& up 1482's. We verify originality by checking all EIA date codes for changed parts. The Filter caps. C16 A.B, C) have been re placed as well as C8. C14, C15 have been replaced as well and are included. C16 is attached to the chassis externally and left in place for cosmetic reasons. When we service an ... moreamp first and foremost in our mind is originality. When C16 was replaced it was done in a manner so that the amp can be returned to concours correct. We left the original voltage divider network on C16 and lifted the wires for the three sections. We did not alter the wiring so it can be removed from the new C16 pack and replace d back on the chassis moun ted planet cap. Since the wires have not be modified t hey will reach and lay in as original and will be undetectable. The C16 is dated 781339 for the 39th week of 1963. The amp was then brought up on a variac and is operating quietly and effectively. The pots cleaned, solder joints checked and repaired as necessary. Chassis and cabinet cleaned. Sockets checked, tubes tested on a Hickok 605 tester. The plug has been polorized. The original 12-4L FISHER 3.2 ohm speaker is dated the 3 2 th week of 63. 1056- 33 2) Most of the caps. like C8 i s the 3 0th week of 1963) And pots are dated summer through fall of 196 3. This wheelset is ready to go in very good condition. The hub is in great shape and is sram& shimano compatible. They are 700c and black in color. Includes the skewers but not the matching ones. Also includes tubes and tires. The front tire is a Hutchinson Top Speed Kevlar 23c with 50% or less tread remaining. It has a flat spot down the center from milage(see pic) The rear tire is a Hutchinson Equinox in nearly new condition with barely any miles at all. Condition Notes: Overall very good condition. Brake strips show some milage but no real"cupping" and have many many miles left in them. The hub is in great shape and is sram& shimano compatible but does have some grease gunk in there that could be cleaned out. They are ready to go as is but both are off true to within about 1/16-1/32 of an inch which should be easy to correct ... moreor just ignore. The decals are in great shape. These sets are known to last 10-15k. Front tire has 50% tread or less and rear tire is basically new. Tubes seem to hold air well. Domestic shipping quote applies to the continental US only. All sections proper length- 36 1/2" What is so awesome is the rare original cardboard shipping tube with the buyer's address label with Heddon's return address- intact and very nice! Also with original aluminum tube and sock as well. This is truly a complete collectable package! The rod is in near mint condition- all sections perfectly straight. Most likely re-varnished at some point but apparently unused since! All original Heddon gold guides. Wraps and ferrules- in perfect shape. View pics that illustrate how awesome this rod and accessories are! Only flaw I see is the sock's bottom edge had a little mending to it- but still in excellent shape- no holes and stitching/seams super. I bought this amp new in 2001. I have been the ONLY owner. This amp is perfect for anyone looking for a stock Marshall JTM45 with KT66 tubes in the power section. Includes Marshall cover. This is the MOST popular change for this type of amplifier. This amp has had one owner(Me) never gigged. I have had the stock power amp tubes changed(by a professional) from 5881s to KT66s. I have also upgraded to JJs and a Sovtek in the preamp and rectifier. Most JTM45 owners find this tube change produces a richer harmonic distortion, some would say a more'Marshall' sound compared to the stock tubes. It is always possible to change this amp back to the stock tubes(by a professional) if needed. The classic JTM45 amps of the 1960s had the KT66 tubes. Set of 3 U-Glass Geissler Tubes Set of three“matching” Geissler tubes each around 6” long and each incorporating a section of Uranium glass which fluoresces green when the tubes are fired up. A pretty effect indeed! These are early tubes, the electrodes ending in small loops of wire; two of the tubes are missing a loop at one end although they work perfectly, the third tube has both its loops.
