Vintage Heathkit Impedance Bridge
A great addition to your vintage analog test equipment collection! This is a vintage Heathkit Impedance Bridge. Model IB-2. This piece of test equipment is in very goodshape. Made by The Heath Company in Benton Harbor. MI USA, it measures 16-1/2" wide by 7-3/4" tall by6" deep. Excellent graphics on the faceplate with all the knobs. Smooth action on all of the knobs. It is missing the two black caps for the binding posts on the front. The meter face is nice and clear with no cracks and it has a zero adjustment. No dents to the steel case but it does have a couple of minor scratches on the top. It has all four rubber feet. I have no way to test the piece of equipment so it will be sold as-is and since it is electrical no returns accepted! Bid accordingly. Heathkit IB-5281 RLC Bridge Resistance Capacitance Inductance Meter
This is a Heathkit IB-5281 RLC Bridge which will measure resistance from 10 ohms to 10 megohms. Capacitance from 10 pF to 10 uF, and inductance from 10 uH to 10 Henries. It can also be used to measure how well matched two components are. The bridge is in very good physical and working condition. I measured some precision components and found resistance measurements to be within about 5% and inductance and capacitance within about 10% The bridge uses two 9V batteries(included) I don't have a printed manual. Heathkit IT-28 Capacitor Checker serviced and calibrated. The electrical circuit has been gone through and any components found out of tolerance have been replaced. All contacts and switches have been flushed with a quick drying contact cleaner which does not contain lubricants which can soak into the wafer boards causing other issues, and finally this was calibrated according the Heathkit manual. The original IT-28 manual is not available but included will be a photo copy of the operation and calibration pages from my HK IT-11, there are no real differences between the IT-11 and the IT-28 other than age and cosmetics. While these are not highly accurate testers the test readings I obtained using this over 2 days testing many caps were close to my digital meter and are more than sufficient for use in vintage electronics, these are great easy ... moreto use units for finding leaky capacitors and reforming old electrolytics. The case is very decent for its age showing some scratches and small chips in the finish- no major dings or dents, the front user panel is very good showing some minor scratch and scuff marks- all lettering is clear and bright, the eye tube is good and functions well and the ground power cord is in good condition. Heathkit IT-28 Capacitor Checker Resistance Bridge,6E5 Green Eye Tube,Ham Radio
This auction is for a vintage Heathkit Model IT-28 Capacitor checker/Resistance bridge. It contains the following tubes: 6AX4. 6BN8. And a 6E5 green eye indicator tube. I took the cover off and removed and tested the tubes. All tubes tested great! The 6BN8 had strong readings on all three sections and the 6AX4 had a strong reading. The 6E5 tube was bright green in both the open and closed positions on the tester. No further testing has been done with this instrument. So I am uncertain about it's calibration or general working condition. All the switches and knobs seem to work fine and it is in nice overall condition with just a little wear and staining. Heathkit model# IB-5281 RLC Bridge w/ manual copy This is a nice. Clean Heathkit model# IB-5281 RLC Bridge. I received it as part of a large lot of used Amateur Radio and electronic test equipment. It appears to be in good condition but is not tested and it is sold as-is- it may need recalibration or other maintenance performed. From the Introduction section of the manual: The Heathkit Model IB-5281 RLC Bridge is a general-purpose instrument that you can use to check the value of resistors. Inductors and capacitors. Use it for bench work with the optional power supply, or as a portable test unit for field use with two standard 9-volt batteries. Terminals are provided on the front panel for the component under test(Zx) and an external standard(Zs) It requires two- 9V batteries or an AC adapter for power(neither are supplied) A copy of the ... more65 page assembly/instruction manual is included. Heathkit IB-5281 RLC(LCR) Bridge- Accurate- HAM Here's a very nice. Working Heath model IB-5281 RLC bridge for your bench or"shack. It's a portable, battery operated instrument capable of accurately measuring resistance, capacitance, and inductance- either directly or as a comparison bridge for matching components or extending the existing ranges. The IB-5281 specifications are: Resistance 10 Ω to 10 MΩ in three ranges Capacitance 10 pF to 10 µF in three ranges Inductance 10 µH to 10 H in three ranges External Standard Range 1:1 to 10:1 Oscillator Frequencies 1 KHz. 10 KHz& 100 KHz Portable operation using two 9 Volt batteries While ohmmeters are common but generally have few and crowded scales. And capacitance meters are plentiful but at a price; meters that will accurately measure inductance are very few and are ... moregenerally expensive. The Heath IB-5281 is an exception. I bought this meter out of curiosity. Wondering just how accurate an inexpensive bridge like this could be for measuring inductance. I was very pleasantly surprised! It compared favorably with my lab grade HP 4262A digital bridge. I first calibrated the IB-5281 with the included resistor per the instruction manual. Then I connected a(nominal) 10 mH inductor for measurement. The second photo shows the bridge nulled, with a reading of just under 10.1 mH on the X 0.1 mH range. The third photo is of the same inductor being measured on my HP 4262A digital meter as 10.15 mH- very close indeed! The HP 4262A is not included in the auction, of course. This instrument is more than accurate enough for its intended use as a bench instrument. It is also quick and easy to use. Just connect your component to the included clips or test leads. Select your function and range, and adjust the dial for a null on the meter- then read. Please note before bidding that the protruding lip on the front of the case was removed by the original owner to allow easier access to the connectors. The instrument ships with new batteries.
