This listing is for a NICE TV-7U TUBE TESTER that works. But would benefit from a calibration to be really accurate on all tubes. I have compared it to my recently calibrated TV7-D(calibrated by Dan Nelson in Az) and a 6L6g output tube tests the same as my TV7-D, but a 6BQ5 tests lower than my workhorse. So I believe the tester to be working well, but it should be calibrated. All testers should be calibrated every decade or so, if the user wants extreme accuracy. These sets were designed by HICKOK, and built under goverment contract by a number of contractors to the same exact specs established by HICKOK. They are also TROPICALIZED, further reducing the effects of time on the tester. They test a wide range of tUbes, with a total of 9 sockets for different types of tubes including the early 4 pin fubes like 80, 5U4G, 6SN7s, 12AX7s etc. I nrepained ... morethe case, it had already been repainted, but the paint hed rubbed off in many areas and did not look that great, so I repainted it. It is possibly from Virginia based on the turning of the foot posts. The head posts are not ornamented which is typical as they were often covered in drapery. The legs are quite delicate and all four are matched with is quite unique for this period. It has a museum-quality finish due to decades of waxing. Old Military Battery Cell Tester With Case, Hoyt Instrument Works Mechanic Tool
This is a vintage storage battery cell tester. Which was made by Hoyt Instrument Works of Penacook NH for the U S Military. It is olive drab, and the case is olive drab as well. It measures DC volts, 3 volts plus or minus, and is in very good condition, little sign of use. There is a little wear of the paint on the ribbed grip of the wood handle, from rubbing against the metal of the case. The paint inside the case is very good, but the paint outside the case is mostly gone, except where the lip of the lid covered it. I would say it is from the mid 30's. Stamped into the wood handle is 17-T-5505. The case is definitely the original, made to cradle the instrument from moving. You have to push down on the lid a little to latch it, as the supports are springy, but when latched, the tester cannot move in the case, it is held firmly by the ... moresupports. Up for bid is a neat old moonshine or whiskey tester. Or also called a spirit hydrometer, used to make home brew. Purchased at a local estate sale, it includes the test tube, thermometer and cardboard tube- all which appear to have never been used. Packed inside a wooden case, the label is still on the case but some pieces are worn away- also one end of the wooden case has been chipped off- see pictures. The thermometer is marked Germany- Talle and Proof, but I find no date. It measures approx. 14" long and 1 1/2" in diameter. Neat breweriana to display on a bar or in a kitchen! Here are just some of the +++ with this machine. It will check about any consumer vacuum tube you may have from antique 4. 5, 6& 7 pin, octal, loktal, 7& 9 pin miniature, nuvistor, 12 pin compactron, 9 pin novar and also wire lead sub-miniature tubes. 7& 9 pin straighteners built in on the face. You can also check both sides of a dual triode without changing any selector switches by simply the push of a button. Can't find the number your looking for on the test data provided, no problem. Manual shows you how to test them. All you need is a tube manual for the number you want to test and owners ... moremanual will show you how to set the switches ~ easy. One of the best all round testers available in this price range. I have cleaned all switches and controls with DeOxit and replaced the two tubes(83& 5Y3GT) with new testing tubes. Roll chart goes from end to end without any problems and all controls operate as they should. Meter does not stick. Adjusts to zero and line adjust is perfect. As you can see in the pictures the test results of a 6V6GT in my Amplitrex AT-100 testing at 4.480 on the Gm. Then I show it testing in this 752A at 1,120. This is in the X4 range so 1,120 time 4 = 4,480. This tester is dead on. The face has a few mars on it but nothing serious and has really nice print. The case shows it age somewhat but is a very solid case. I have taken all kinds of pictures so you can judge physical condition for yourself. All in all. A very nice tester. Comes with printed test data books and a CDrom with foreign. Obsolete and general test data, manual and other information on it. NJ HISTORY& TECHNOLOGY: ~The Weston Analyzer Model 774 Type 4 was originally built for the U.S. Army Signal Corps in the early 1940's(and possibly earlier) It was developed for and reached its highest use during World War II. ~Not sure if it was used before the War or not. The design is very reminiscent of the Art Deco period of the 1930's and early 1940's. ~An example of"new technology" at the time. It made a"revolutionary" difference in use and performance under pressure. This unit is very similar to the dramatic breakthrough of the way tablets, phones, and computers now have been made to fit into the palm of the hand. Compare that to even TWENTY years ago!
