Presented for your consideration is this lot of 2 Antique Leeds& Northrup Decade Resistance Boxes w/ Bakelte& Wood Cabinet. Extremely well crafted as were electrical items of this period. These rare pieces are circa early 1900's. Around the turn of the century. They each measure approximately 5 inches tall, the base measures approximately 10 inches by 6 3/4 inches. The bases are constructed of a very fine hardwood, and the panels are constructed of bakelite. These pieces remain in very good antique condition. Overall, they could use a little cleaning and TLC, but I will leave that option up to the winning bidder, ... moreas that is the best choice. I have not tested them and I am unsure as to the exact operation of these units. One of the dials exhibits a cracked edge but other than that they look great. Leeds & Northrup L&N 4363 300A 1mOhm Lab Standard Current Shunt
For your consideration is a very nice lab standard 300A current shunt L&N catalogue number 4363 serial number 1214577. I think that the stated accuracy of the shunt was originally listed by L&N at 0.04% I performed a rough comparison to it with my 100A 10mOhm shunt and in comparison its resistance value appears to be within 0.04% of 1mOhm. Of course this is not a to be considered a calibration simply a functional check. The previous owner of the shunt appears to have maintained it in an oil bath as the wooden base has a slight oily scent and feel. No test leads. This is a vintage electrical test equipment device model 10473 manufactured by The Leeds& Northrup Co. of Philadelphia. Wooden box with bakelite knobs. Wires would apparently connect to the two lugs at the top. Very robustly made and of very high quality. In dusty but clean condition. I have not opened it to see what's inside. No definite idea what it is. But it might be some sort of electrical"bridge. The dials are similar to photos of an L&N whetstone bridge, whatever that is. Can't find a photo that looks exactly like it, but it's sure steampunky. Here's what I found out about the company: Leeds& Northrup. Was founded in 1899, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Morris E. Leeds. Originally known as Morris E. Leeds& Company and produced electrical measuring instruments for laboratory and testing use. Up for auction is this really nice vintage/antique Leeds& Northrup 7661 pH Meter! I purchased this test set at a recent estate sale and it will ship to you just as I found it! It appears to be both a pH scale/meter as well as a volt scale/meter. I don't know anything about this set other than a bit of reading that I did online where it looked like these sets were used in the early 1900s. The wood cabinet is still nice and solid. The hinged compartments swings open easily. The paper label with instructions that is attached to the inside of the top/lid is still in pretty good shape. It has 9 test tubes(some with inserts) A thermometer, and a glass reservoir. This piece measures approximately 14 1/2" by 10" by 10 1/2" and weighs approximately 21 pounds. Here i s a very cool switch made by the Leeds and Northrup Company of Philadelphia. I found it listed in a 1925 L& N catalog. And it was listed as a"charge and discharge key" for capacitance measurement, model number 3290, and the cost then was $22.00. The base measures about 3 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches. And is 3/4 inch thick. The switch lever is about 6 1/2 inches long, including the handle. The switch is 3 3/4 inches high. The base, insulators, and handle are made of hard rubber, the metal parts are nickel plated brass. It is in very good condition, but needs a good cleaning and polishing to look its best. You are buying just the switch. Not the catalog. Thank you for looking and good luck!

Vintage Industrial Canvas Pouch Bag Leeds& Northrup Co Philadelphia A 26 years long time antique dealer in this area is closing her doors for good. And I actually spent two days picking this weekend through her stuff. She specialized in very old primitives, but I was able to grab a little bit for everyone– I have some fabulous advertising, industrial, retro, deco– you don’t want to miss this week! I'm not exactly sure what this one used to hold- I just knew that it was a cool old canvas bag or pouch! Marked on the inside with an original label. It reads, Leeds& Northrup Co. Philadelphia made in U.S.A, it's made from what I'd call army green canvase with a dark tan border. When folded closed as in photo 2, it measures 9 1/2" wide by 6" tall. Open/unfold it, and it measures 11" tall. There's 6 sewn compartments ... moreon the inside that used to hold something. Those compartments measure(left to right) 3" 1 1/4" 1/2" 1/2" 1 1/2" and 1 3/4" wide when the piece is laying flat. It weighs 3 ounces. Now, there's a tie on one side that I'm showing in photo 4- it's actually two different ties sewn to either side of the seam. It took me a while, but I just now figured out that you are supposed to roll the bag/pouch up for when not in use and tie it closed with the ties- it works great! The way it folds when closed is shown in photo 2- it's inside out in photo 1 just to show you the label. The canvas is thick, and there's just a little stiffness to it. It also shows some soil(as does the label- which is cloth) as well as fading. I do not clean or mess with as found patina in any way, so it could use a cleaning- but it has no odor, and isn't white I'd call overall dirty- just spots of soil and dust. It's in excellent solid and sturdy condition, though- no structural issues at all. There's some fraying to the very ends of the ties, but just there, they are sturdy and functional. VERY SWEET vintage galvonometer, circa 60's, nice case, Leeds and Northrup, Phil
This galvanometer by Leeds and Northrup(Philadelphia) is up for sale. Any reasonable offer will be considered. I believe it's from the 60's. And these were used to measure electrical currents in just about anything. They are very sensitive, like an ammeter, and this one is nicely self-contained in a wood case. It has a serial number, 719588. I don't really collect this sort of thing, but it was so cool, I had to grab it and try to get it to someone who could use it practically or just appreciate it in his/her collection. It is an amazing electronic instrument. Size is 9.5" x 8.5" x 6.5" and the weight is 13 lb, 9 oz. Make me a good offer, and this old galvanometer can be yours. Thanks for looking at my item.
