Here is a nice looking AMECO PLF FET Preamplifier that shows a power light but was dead. I decided to replace the FET and it came to life. I extensively tested it on all bands with my IFR FM/AM 1500 test set and works perfectly! I am cleaning out my shack and have no further need of it. I will bring a marginal receiver to life. Left the orange wire on this output as pictured, turned dial on signal generator(frequency generator) it blanked static where shown(very close to 625 KHz) No hum. Switched to 440Hz, yes sounded good, Plugged the gray cable(has RCA plug on end) into my CD player. Yes, music sounded good on my AM radio. I added a power supply cap 22uF 450v just to be safe. I have had this unit for several years, it has had little use as I have several other radio and can use only one at a time. I have checked out once more to make sure all is working and it is. I checked all the functions I normally use everything works great. There are no options installed, it's in the original configuration. Note that this is the R71A with the PBT(Pass Band Tuning) knob in the lower right corner. Icom had a dispute with another radio maker about the intellectual property right to PBT and that function was not provided in the later production models of the R71A. YOU WANT THAT FUNCTION.
