I don't exactly know what the pulley function is used for with the steam engine. As the photos show the toy is in nice shape all the way around and under. On one side on top near the edge is a little dent though not noticeable and hardly worth mentioning. This toy has been stored away for years in clean, dry conditions and is in great shape as the photos show. Many years ago the owner of a local Richmond Virginia hobby shop had a number of different HO engines professionally custom painted and decaled out specifically for his hobby shop depicting the RF&P Railroad and I bought a number of them. I am very sorry to report that I do not know the different makes. Models, types, styles, etc. of my HO diesel engines. I just bought a number of different HO engines from this hobby shop that were nice looking and that ran nicely when I test ran them at the hobby shop. This particular RF&P Diesel Engine has spent most of its entire life on static display on the wall in my smoke free home train room and has very little actual track running time on the engine itself. This RF&P Diesel Engine is painted the traditional RF&P blue and grey paint scheme and I think it is very realistically done to match the real thing. Mantua 4015 Santa Fe Diesel Engine & Lighted Santa Fe Dummy Diesel Engine.
Let me first start off by stating that I am not a train expert and am not a TCA member. I do my best to honestly describe what I have for sale. If you see something that is not correct. Please message me so that I can correct the listing. Thank you. This listing is for a Mantua 4015 powered Santa Fe Diesel engine and a Mantua 4015 lighted dummy Santa Fe Diesel engine. The powered engine runs and lights great. The dummy engine was originally a powered engine that had a bad motor. I removed the motor and left the wiring and light in place. I cut the center weight down so that the towing weight would be much less. But still has enough weight for the wheels to pick up power for the headlight. This is a great looking set and runs out very well. They run best with the powered engine in front(forward) and with the dummy engine reversed(backward) ... morein the second position. Pictures 1& 2 are of the pair, pictures 3-7 are of the powered engine and pictures 8-12 are of the dummy engine. Please look at all the pictures and ask any questions that you may have. This is the L.M.S. 2270 made by HORNBY! Engine runs on O gauge track and is Clockwork/Wind-up. Its not electric! I have tested engine. It winds up well and runs forward as well as reverse.
