Tapemaster Automatic Taper The Best made automatic taper hands down I am a home builder. When I moved to a small rural town in Wisconsin there were not a lot of quality tapers that could do an excellent job on smooth level 5 drywall. The norm around here was the painter was the taper and end the end orange peel was in order to cover the rough work. Anyway. I would build a couple large homes in Wisconsin and did my own taping. I Paid over 1500 dollars for this unit quite a while ago and took excellent care of it. A couple years ago I took it down to Madison to have the go over it, replace the knife and the stainless cable. Not that it needed it but I never wanted it to breakdown during a job. I removed the cable cover and posted a picture of it. If you are going to buy a used taper, this is it. I have seen guys throw their taper in their pickup ... morefull of mud, maybe get around to hosing it off every couple weeks. I cleaned this every night, sprayed down the moving parts with WD. It's in fantastic condition. Often used ones will have dents in the tube, and most guys don't clean out under the cap where the cable is. I always did. I purchased a spare once on eBay. Looked ok but when I got it, it was caked with hard mud around the cable. It never worked right so I got rid of it. I guaranty this will work perfectly first time, provided you thinn the mud properly) and if you take the time to clean it properly and give the moving parts a spray of WD-0 it will last for years. I see you can get the Goblatt taper at Menards for around 600 dollars but I don’t believe it is made with the quality parts this on is. My salesman said that with use every day, it won’t last near as long as this used taper. Anyway. Starting at a penny, no reserve. Good luck.
