Helped speed things up on the big 400/500 wheels. A hydraulic tool can be supplied to dismantle travel wheel shaft in a simple and convenient manner. The oil under high pressure is injected through the wheel shaft and between the mating surfaces of the wheel shaft and wheel hub. The shaft can then be removed under pretension. This DEMAG 5ton block spins on roller bearings. Both the hook and the sheave have them. Both parts spin smoothly with no binding or play. Though this block looks abused. I believe it did very little lifting. There is no evidence of cable wear in the groove of the 10" wheel. The groove is sized for 1/2" cable. Up to 3/4" will fit, but rides up in the groove. 1/2" cable normally rates around 5tons, so anything larger is excessive. The hook puzzles me. It is sized for 20tons or more. It is massive. The sheetmetal shield is dinged and scratched, but also totally intact with no major dents. I suspect it was bounced around on a shop floor before it ended up chained to a ceiling truss where I found it. It will be shipped in a crate via UPS.
