WW2 BRITISH Navy Rigging Rope Bosuns Pocket Knife with Marlin Spike 1942
This auction is for a British Royal Navy Bosun's Knife which was produced in Sheffield. England, by Sheffield Steel Products in 1942. It has a blade, a can opener, and a wicked looking Marlin Spike. The case/handle is in good condition, considering its age and use. The blade and Marlin Spike snap back crisply into the case. The can opener remains in the position in which it was placed but does not snap closed crisply. This knife was obviously used at sea. Please look closely at the pictures which show the condition of the tools, including pitting from exposure to the salt air. At the base of the can opener is a British Broad Arrow mark(the proofing stamp for materials made in England during WWII) and S.S.P. 1942, indicating that it was made in Sheffield during 1942. USS Constitution Plank, Nail & Rigging From The Ship
I found this in my grandfathers attic. In order to open the USS Constitution Museum to the public they needed to raise money for construction etc. They created two categories of giving. Founders($5.000+) Plank Owners($1,000-$4,999) My grandfather, Thomas Pappas, was a Plank Owner. Vintage 1983 CASE XX, Rigging" No. 6265-SAB, 7 Dot, Jigged Birch/Maple Pakkawood Handles, 2 Blade, Large Folding Hunting Knife, with a Marlin Spike and Leather Sheath, in Mint Condition. This one is a Very Hard Find and Beauty. Description as follows: It's 100% Original. The Carbon Steel Blades have a Shiny Factory Mirror Finish. The Blades are Factory Razor Sharp and Fresh. The Blades and Bolsters are factory tight with no wobble. It has Brass Pins and Liner. The Rear Bolster also has a Lanyard Hole. The front blade tang is stamped 6265-SAB and measures 4" The second blade tang is stamped CASE XX 7 Dot USA and measures 4" The overall measurement with the blade open is 9 3/8" and the closed measurement is 5 1/4" The Beautiful Handles are Jigged Maple/Birch Pakkawood with Wonderful Color ... moreand Aged Patina. They have a Deep Red Mahogany Color and Grain. There are no cracks or chips to be found. The Marlin Spike measures 5 1/4" and is in Mint Condition also. Here we have a real find and that would be an ANTIQIE and AUTHENTIC old Period BELAYING that was found with some other boat and ship items right here on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay where I am sure it was used and maybe even made.Belaying pins were removable Pins that the ships rigging could be tired off on. Also popular as a club in fights and scraps.I used to portray an 18th century low life sailor at re enactments and always carried a Belaying Pin in my belt ready for any trouble!This example is turned out of what looks like Hickory[ not 100% sure but pretty sure] and is rather heavy. Measures about 16 1/2 inch overall, the mounting shaft is about 1 1/4 inch across.This Belaying Pin is OLD and has an age check to the head and some checks at the bottom of the handle, not that bad and affects nothing. Head has a couple tiny holes ... morebut affects nothing. No finish and no signs it ever had any, I really don't think it was ever used and probably just old stock.An interesting Chesapeake Bay maritime item from a different time that I know you will love.Starting auction off low with no reserve and as always actual postage charged depending on where you live[weighs just over 1 lb boxed to ship]

McClellan US Military Saddle , Cavalry Saddle w/ strirrups & Rigging, No Reserve
NO RESERVE Nice original US Cavalry Saddle. This is a McClellan saddle maker marked Strass S.L.H. The McClellan saddle was used by Civil War US Cavalry Troopers up to WW1. The Cavalry Saddle did not change much from the Civil War on. The saddle is complete. Has all original hardware, straps and has brass stirrups. The saddle has all of the original brass loop plates, loop bars and rings, the front plate is stamped 12 inch. Original side rigging straps, rings and buckles for the cinch. Original Stirrup straps and buckles. The stirrup straps are both maker stamped STRASS S.L.H. The Stirrups are brass. This US Cavalry Saddle is as about as complete as they come. The saddle is in as found condition, it was wiped down and conditioned with saddle leather conditioner, The saddle has a couple of sewing repairs on the right side, it has been re sewn ... morealong the bottom edge and has a small tear to the leather on the right side where the seat meets the saddle skirt. The side rigging straps on both sides have repairs where the strap has been sewn back together, the right side stirrup strap has also been sewn back together. Please take a look at the last couple of photos showing the repairs to the straps. I do not have the Cinch for the saddle. Interesting well made police? saddle Beautiful quality well made saddle. This is in fine using condition. It comes complete with the leather girth shown. The leathers and Stubben irons. I do not see a maker stamp and I am not sure exactly what it is- But I was told it was a Police Saddle- and looking around the web I see that could be the case- Originally purchased in New York. This might have a little age on it 10-20 years I am guessing? But definitely not a super-old restored saddle. This saddle is rock solid sturdy and ready to use. I see no weak spots or damage. The seat is nicely padded and it has the McClellan look to it. The hardware is Brass and the leather and workmanship is of very nice quality. It comes with the wool pad shown in pictures and it comes ready to ride with the girth shown.
