We have a 420 crawler for sale in the barn so these appear to be a spare parts in addition to the extra engine and transmission that are in the barn! Please see photos for their condition. John Deere 420 W LP Tractor. 1958 420WLP. One of 100. S/N 126996. The earlier LP tractors did not have the"L" stamped on the tag. Including this one. Ive had the Two Cylinder Club research done from the John Deere Archives to confirm the tractor was factory shipped with and LP Gas Engine. This tractor is equipped with a five speed/live pto transmission. Has a tachometer and good spinout rear rims(no rust or calcium) The engine starts right up and runs good. Still has the original vaporizer unit on the tractor. Ive had new high pressure steel hydraulic lines made to run from the hydraulic pump to the three point unit(tractor currently has a rubber hydraulic line in their place) Transmission has a few issues. Ertl John Deere Tractor and Wagon Vintage it's close to model 70 or 420
I found this with a bunch of Breyer animals at an estate. it says 2340SR on the bottom. The gate and rubber tires say ERTLThe raising arm is chrome. The rest is steel except for seat and rims. From what I know of the man who owned it and the way he took care of his collections I would guess the manufacturing date to be in the late 60's maybe early 70's. The bucket has a couple of gnat bites at the ground level and other than that this vehicle looks mint as does the wagon. The man even kept the axles covered(which I have left) From allll the research I have done I thought the condition, age etc of this model should sell for a bit more. I'm no expert, obviously I paid 350,00 for this and the plastic animals, the guys grandkids I got them from were banging them into oblivion. This was hiding in the bottom of one of the boxes.
