Up on auction is this 1958 John Deere 420 C crawler dozer serial# 31724 with the heavy duty manual angle& tilt dozer blade and attached cable jammer that runs off the PTO. It runs and moves. Steering clutches work, reverser works, hydraulic is a little weak. The 6 volt system has been upgraded to a 12 volt system. Had a new battery and muffler installed this past spring. The crawler dose need some TLC done to the tracks and rollers before it can be put into any hard service. It has a tendency to run a track off if on to uneven of a surface. John Deere 320 40 420 front nose grill sheet metal. This is for a 320 or 420 as it has vertical holes for the front emblem. But it will work for a 40 if you redrill the holes. I did not see any rust thru holes but there are dents. There are no grills screens or green screen rods. This is a 50 year old part and is not perfect. I have lots of pictures. John Deere 320 40 420 gas fuel tank. This is about as nice of a tank you will find as a take off. I believe this was NOS at one time by the paint color. There is very little surface rust inside. Code 207· Here to the highest bidder is a very nice and rare 1956 John Deere 420-W Navy tractor serial number 92865. The engine and transmission were over hauled a year ago and can tell when driving. Here are some of the parts that we have recently replaced to fine tune it: Rebuilt John Deere 420 carb. Air cleaner to carb boot, brake springs and a new original style muffler(not shown in pictures, will add one soon) The tractor does have a recent paint job, it is a shade off the correct color, and the sheet metal was not worked over before paint. There are some welds on the front end, as most people know the military never treats their equipment with super care. It ... morehas been converted to 12 volt and also to push button start. The rear tires are 85% with very minor weather checking. And the front tires have real good tread but are very weather cracked and need replaced. The tractor also comes with a parade seat that attaches to the draw bar which can hold a good amount of weight. It has always been a great eye catcher at many shows and parades. The story behind it is very interesting and makes this tractor as J.R Hobbs said,help provide substance to the conductibility of the C.J. Tractors as a group. You can read about this C.J. Code build in the Two-Cylinder September-October 2003 magazine on page 8. There is also an extra bar above the PTO that we cannot figure out what is used for. If you may know I would really like to know. This is a very rare tractor and as most people that were in the Navy know. Most of these were pushed off the side of the aircraft carriers. We actually have a friend that talked to someone that was retired Navy and remembered giving the order to push a few of these over board. John Deere Side Dresser. Cultivator Mount Side Dresser for John Deere M. MT, 40, 420, 430 etc series of tractors. I do not know the exact application of this unit so PLEASE do your homework before bidding/blaming me if it does not fit your tractor. I believe it is designed for the earlier model tractors(M, MT, 40) I bought it to mount on a 430 but it is different than what the manual calls for. It is missing the fertilizer hopper but the hard to find clutch basket and all the gears/sprockets are there. If you are interested I can e-mail more photos.
