They have arrow carved back splats and in great solid condition. One chair has had a professional restoration where a split in one of the seats was repaired with 1/2" solid oak dowels. KALIMBA - vintage primitive African instrument, all wood (thumb harp)
This is a handmade instrument purchased by my parents during their trip to Africa in the 60's. It is primitively made and fun to play. It Kalimba measures 8 inches by 5 inches. Depth of 1 3/4 inch. It has 9 prongs and shakers. See photos. There are many variations of these wooden instruments. The metal"strings" are plucked to make sounds in the diatonic music scale. Kalimbas were hand-made. All different. The Kalimba was developed in Africa many centuries ago and introduced in Western cultures by ethnomusicologist Hugh Tracey.

Tom Thumb portable by Automatic Radio, Quite RARE
Up for bids we have an Automatic Radio co. Tom Thumb portable. The model may be a Screen Grid Four or there are also references to a Model B and B Deluxe on the web, there are pictures from an article in the Jan. 1989 issue of Antique Radio Classified showing a very similar radio. This one is a bit fancier so it may be the B Deluxe. The date of the radio is thought to be 1929 although it may be earlier given the 199 tubes that are used. The outside of the case is a bit worn, the worst place being on one corner where it is worn down into the wood, it also has nicks and scratches but remember that it’s over 80 years old. The leather handle has been wrapped with tape at some point. There are no tubes, the ARC article( states that a type 32. Two type 30s and a type 31 can be used to replace the expensive 199 type tubes. There is also no speaker ... moreor batteries. There is an antenna hidden inside the front door. I will include a copy of the schematic for the Screen Grid Four from Riders page 1-1, it shows this tube layout but shows only a speaker jack and not a speaker. Decorative Dagger with pant clips, thumb hole, and big blade
Really cool looking dagger that is silver with a nice black case. I don't have the exact dimensions but looks to be about a 10-12" blade. It is too thick and blunt to put a really good edge on without turning it into something else entirely. I boxed it up and weighed it before I measured but you can get a pretty good idea of the size from the pics. It has 2 clips on chains that can attach to your pants or belt and would make a great prop for theater or a Halloween costume. You could just walk around being a warrior. Or you could just sit around looking at how cool it is and thinking about how people used to actually fight with things like this. That's what I did until my wife told me to get rid of it because of toddlers walking around playing with everything. It was the time when Tom Thumb worked for P.T. Barnum. I don't know if this token was struck for Barnum to market or advertise Tom Thumb or not. But I am sure Barnum had something to do with it. This one is struck in brass and measures 22mm. A nice piece from the mid-19th century circus sideshow collectible. The only thing that I could find that makes it less than a 10 is that the MEC logo is slightly worn off of a pickup. Also, the waxing has been kept up with, which makes the wood grain pop-out and look great! The playability is impeccable; it plays like butter. This is a relacquered(though keys are still in original silver-plate) 1926 Conn soprano. Serial number 179165, very solid and without any major previous damage, needing to be restored to playing condition. All key work and rollers are moving freely. This was a project of a repairman friend of mine who, before getting done, turned his attention to a curved soprano instead. He put modern soprano palm keys on it, along with a modern thumb rest. He had to make one kicker on the low Bb hinge tube. The rolled toneholes are in excellent condition; the neck tip is in undisturbed excellent original shape too. No case comes with the horn.
