This is a Ford 501 sickle bar mower. It has a 7' bar. It is catagory 1. 3 point hitch. It is field ready and as you can see in the video. It is in the field mowing. We field test all our mowers. I can't think of a better way for you to see what you are getting. This helps us both out. I know I'm sending you a quality machine, and you know you are buying one. Look for the video at the bottom of the page. These Ford mowers will NOT hook up to square lift arms. Like on some Cases and John Deeres. They were made for the Ford Ferguson system. They will work on many others. As you can see in the video, I'm using an International. I've seen them work on things on ebay that I wouldn't have believed they would work on. I've said for years that they won't mow below horizontal. I still say they won't. But I saw a ... morefellow demonstrating one on ebay the other day. Hooked to some kind of garden tractor. He had the bar hanging over a steep bank, and it looked to be working. If it had been mine it would have broke the pitman rod and no telling what else. They will only mow about 35 degrees up a bank. As the pitman rod will break if it goes up much steeper than that. This mower is described in the video. Except for the following 2 things I forgot to mention: The shield is in place on the PTO. Not only is this for safety. But if you mow tall grass without the PTO shield, you'll spend a lot of time getting the grass off the PTO. The guards are all part number 800. There are a couple of different numbers of Ford guards. I don't like to mix them. I think the sickle does better if they are all the same. It is a bargain at 1095.00 or best offer! The only problems are as following: The engine dose burns some light oil till it warms up. And the key simply needs a wire reattached. I believe I have a single mounting headlight that bolts to the front hood as well. I also have the original lever to lift the mower. Only removed it for sanity/weight reasons. Seat is Decent and has Heavy Pitting The throttle control rod has a notch wore in it from rubbing against the control panel over the years The Cub Charges perfectly and the Headlights work fine. The rear light does not work I believe the bulb is bad The Tool Box on the side of the Battery Box will need to be repaired/replaced The Original Wire Mesh Front Grille is a little deformed. But totally usable for someone with experience One Small Ding in Gas Tank and a 3/16" hole ... morein Hood near the Front Right Light(See Pictures) Oil Pan has a Dent. Doesn't leak, but will need repair/replaced for restoration(See Pictures) Still has its Original Hand Crank Fenders and platform are in also Original and in Good Shape Has New Rings. Bearings, Head Gasket, Plugs, Oil Filter, and Radiator installed Magneto and Carburetor are Fully Rebuilt. Absolutely Great Spark and Runs and Idles Great with Great Oil Pressure New Aftermarket Air Cleaner Cap Original IH Stamped Distributor Cap. Coil Cap, and Plug Wires Original IH Stamped Muffler. You never see this anymore Original Wiring Harness. Looks like a couple connectors have been replaced The Battery Box looks to be in good shape and Original. Includes the Original Side and Top Battery Covers as well, the Top Cover still has the rubber spacers Brand New 6 Volt Battery Included Brand New Carlisle Tires and Tubes on the Original Goodyear Rims. It had it's Original War Rubber Tires when I got the Cub. John Deere Model 8 Sickle Bar Mower
Hi. Here I got a used John deere model 8 sickle bar mower. All the parts SEEM to be here but no garuntee, if you know a little about these and old tractors normally you have to do some modifications anyway. I believe it is a 7' bar but never measured. The bar would probably need oiled down and worked to break free as far as the gear box it does spin freely and move the arm. The pto connection is all there and comes with it. The only visible damage I see on the implement is the wooden 1x1 piece of bar is broke in half the reason for this being made of wood is the theory before it would break a shear off the bar the wood will snap if it were mine I would just put a peice of metal bar stock in its place. Antique National Sickle Bar Mower. Has briggs engine. I think its a 5hp but may be tad smaller. The sickle bar has a 36 inch width. Everything appears to be complete. Needs to be restored. I didn't try anything on the mower. It turns over. The linkages are more freely. It rolls. All the teeth are there and I didn't see and damage. Looks to be a nice restorable mower. Its got lots of surface rust but I believe it was stored in a barn or shed or else id be in a lot worse shape. Very rare. Local pickup or can meet or deliver for reasonable fee. Big Antique Pressed Steel Toy Farm Tractor w Sickle Bar Mower Hay Rake Marx 1940
This colorful antique pressed steel toy farm tractor is big. About 11" long and when the sickle bar mower is hitched up the length of the pair is about 18" The toys are very sturdy and well built and underneath the tractor and both implements are stamped"Made in U.S.A. in a circular pattern(Marx Co. The tin driver shown is an antique one but he is not the correct driver for the tractor but was with it when I got it. Still, if you wedge him in between the seat and the steering wheel he looks OK sitting up there. The blue and yellow sickle bar mower is 11" wide and no longer works but it looks like it is complete(except for the driver)and it displays well with the tractor. I believe the mower could be repaired to work by someone who knows what they are doing. The matching yellow and red hay rake implement is about 10" ... morewide and I am not sure what if anything, it is missing but it also displays well with the set. All 8 wheels, including the large 5 1/4" in diameter tractor wheels, are very well made out of two pieces of stamped steel that have been pressed together( There is some wear and I think the set had another implement(s? but what is there is in good to very good original condition and the set displays very nicely just like it is. Runs and functions good. No known problems. This thing will walk right through heavy grass and brush up to 1" in diameter. Including yaupon. It is not for thin grass or lawns.
