General 31 Post Hole Digger/Auger With Auger Bit Tecumseh engine
This General Model 31 post hole auger is an older model of the newer version 330H I believe. This one has a Tecumseh engine instead of a Honda. I am selling this as is for parts or not working but it does run and it drills. I can only get it to start by priming it and it probably needs a carburetor kit or the fuel lines cleaned on it. Also the starter doesn't catch every time either. I will say once I primed it it was relatively easy to get going. This this has a lot of torque and I would recommend two people be manning this thing as I was working on it alone and just about threw myself into the neighbors yard because it didn't like me. Vintage 2 cycle Tecumseh post hole digger on a crank down stand.
For sale is an old gas post hole digger powered by an old 2 cycle Tecumseh 3-3.5 hp engine. I don't know which it is. The tag on the carb. says 1-670-88B Tecumseh 1106-0907. I think the manufacturing date was April 16th. 1971 or 1961 according to these numbers but I'm not 100% sure. Sometimes it cranks right up but sometimes you have to spray the carb when its cold, but after it runs for a moment it seems to run ok and will start right back up. The older gentleman I got it from mounted it on a rolling base with a hand cranking mechanism to let it down and up and it works pretty well. You don't have to muscle it around. It could use some carb adjustments I'm sure and some overall greasing and tlc. There is nothing on here that evens comes close to resembling this anywhere else on eBay. Not even just an engine like this. Probably ... morea collectors dream. It comes with an 8" auger bit and I have an extra tip that goes on it. I will not ship this or crate it. General 330H Post Hole Digger Gearbox w/ Handles. Gears& clutch are in good condition. The engine is NOT included. I am using it on a pressure washer. Input shaft size is 7/8" x 2" w/ key; same size as many pressure washers. Bolt pattern is 5" wide x 6-1/4" long. The top half of the casing has to be removed to install it& the clutch driver half on an engine. Output shaft is 1-3/8" hex. I purchased this digger several years ago thinking I would get a bit someday but I never did, so I decided to use the engine& list the gearbox for auction. This is a wonderful complete one owner toy I have taken on consignment to sell. It has a little minor paint loss but overall this is a fantastic set for someone to add to their Nylint Toys Collection. This set is 55 years old. I am going to let the pictures do the talking. Feel free to ask any questions. There are two sets of tools both the same set. One is in the tool box of the Pole Digger Truck, and the other set is loose in the back of the Lineman's truck. Original Windshields are near flawless, the original beaded chain and hook for the Lineman's truck are flawless as is the 3 rig hoist lift that the chain lifts the original factory spool wheel on.
