4 foot wide snow plow for use on riding mower/tractor.
This is a 4' wide snow plow that I used on an 18 HP MTD Yard Machine. It swivels to 22.5 and 45 degree angles left and right via a hand-grip control that extends from the left side of the plow to the driver. I have also added a 1/4 rubber boot to the blade to prevent"grabbing" while plowing. There is an adjustable-height foot on each side. The plow currently attaches front-to-back via cotter pins on both sides. One rear hitch-bolt as well as a lateral-movement preventer. I raised and lowered the plow with a 12-volt winch mounted to the front of my machine. You will have to choose the best method for your machine. Local pickup or $20.00 to deliver in the Pittsburgh. And reprinted by the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC, 1959. Reprinted by Nation Builder Books, Leesburg, VA, 2003, 8½ x 11 softcover, 10 pages. Please note that this is a photoduplicated reproduction. Not an original. Partly based on a study of the remains of the 1837 model Deere plow in the possession of the Smithsonian. This plow was made by John Deere at Grand Detour in 1838 and sold to Joseph Brierton. In 1901. The plow was bought from the Brierton farm by Deere’s son, Charles H. Deere, and put on display at the Moline headquarters of Deere& Company. The company then donated the plow to the Smithsonian in 1938. Deere& Co. records indicate that this was one of three plows made ... moreby John Deere in 1838 and that it was substantially identical to the first plow made in 1837. Kendall also describes the historical evidence of the business partnership established in March 1843 between John Deere and Leonard Andrus. Founder of Grand Detour and part owner of the sawmill located there. In a cited letter to Kendall, author Stewart Holbrook stated that the most if not all of the material supporting the story that Deere actually only built a plow built to Andrus’s specifications came from the files of the J.I. Case Company. Kendall dissects this story and its validity, while describing in detail how Deere apparently made the 1838 plow, and with what materials. Kendall’s little monograph is crammed full of interesting details about Deere and his plow. For example. Kendall reports that the first slab of cast plow steel ever rolled in the United States was made in 1846, and was shipped to John Deere, of Moline, Illinois. There is a lengthy quote from Burton F. This is a John Deere model 380 A front blade for a mid size JD Utility Tractor. This blade was mounted on a JD790 tractor. This is a 66" wide model. All four mounts are included. The front mounts bolt to the brackets directly below the radiator. The rear mounts bolt to the main frame where the loader mounts bolt to tractor. The blade is a quick detach model once you have the brackets bolted on the tractor. The hydraulic lines connect to the same ports as the front end loader. This blade is very tight and shows little use. The paint is faded and the hyd. hoses are weathered but the overall condition is excellent.
