Hand Painted French Tole Lavabo Fountain Planter c1920
Up for bids is this beautiful fine antique French toleware lavabo. The lavabo is in three parts.The removable top, the body which holds the water and a tray for catching the water. All hand painted. This was used as a plant holder and the inside of the tray shows the corrosion from the plants being water and residue from the soil which has over the years rusted. There is very minor paint loss. Some small spots that have been chipped off, but very minor.

Except for one chip on the unglazed footing of it's base There is a little bit of hard water build up inside the planter, but very little. The planter is unmarked. It's pictured at the top of page 100 of the Brush-McCoy Pottery Book 1 book by Martha and Steve Sanford. It measures 5" tall. It would make a wonderful addition to any collection. Antique CHINESE EXPORT Enamel BLUE BIRDS Sculpture, Cloisonne Planter 1 NICE, NR
Antique Chinese Export Enamel(Enameled) Bluebirds of Happiness in Cloisonne Planter. NICE This auction is for an antique Chinese enameled and cloisonne item which I believe dates from the early part of the 20th century and was probably made for the export market. It is a small cloisonne planter decorated with flowers. The base is white with blue. Green, yellow and red colors. The planter has two blue birds perched on gold color branches that are decorated with orange, purple and blue flowers. The birds are enameled in white, black, blue, and turquoise and they are finely made with pointed beaks. On of the birds stands on a gold and blue rimmed platform. The back of the tree branch is accented with dots of blue enamel. There is a moveable branch that has enameled green leaves. This item measures about 3" wide. 3 3/4" tall and 1 3/4" ... moredeep. I do not know the base metal but have seen other similar items on ebay as being made of brass for the planter and silver for the bird decoration. I could not find any marks. This is one of two planters that will be auctioned. This one has some tarnishing of the gold colored metal on top of the planter and could probably use more dusting/cleaning. For auction is a wonderful vintage McCoy Floraline vase/planter. It is in wonderful condition with no chips or cracks. The glazing is still is fantastic condition with a fine luster. At its base it is 4 inches wide. It tapers out to 7.25 inches and once again tapers down to 5.5 inches to create the opening at the top. It stands a hair over five inches tall. Lovely Vintage MCCOY Planter Man on Work Horse Great Condition!
Shiny well cared for used McCoy planter. Its an old work horse standing at the water trough with the farmer sitting on his back. The planter has been used because I found traces of soil in the bottom of it. The top half of the horse and farmer are green. The horses legs and the trough is brown. I wondered if the green coloring shows they are resting in the shade after working in the hot sun. Anyway as noted there is a tiny worn spot on the horses right ear and another tiny one on rim of the hat. I found these by feeling. I didnt notice them eyeballing them. This item has been in a box in our basement forever.Dont even know where we got it. I don"t know anything about pottery so looked on Ebay for ideas for price. This piece which is marked" Frankoma 6" is probably one of the early pieces. based on the number) and is done in the beautiful chocolate brown Plainsman satin finish on red clay. It stands 7 1/2 inches high. And is 6 1/2 inches by 6 inches wide. It is apparently a planter. But shows no signs of ever having been used and is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or any other problems that I can find. This Frankoma.Ada clay,black glaze vase or planter is in very nice condition. It measures 3 3/4" tall Both miniscule defects should show in the photos. One inside corner had a small knick. The rim of the wagon Wheel has an even smaller knick on the edge. I understand that this black finish is not found as often as the other glazes in the wagon wheel pattern. Vintage FRANKOMA pottery of Oklahoma. No. 212 WHITE 3" ROUND PLANTER Description: This is a very stylish round planter in white. It measures 3 inches tall, it is 8" across and the opening is 6.25" inches. Some history on Frankoma Before it was Frankoma Pottery. The company was called Frank Potteries. In 1933 John Frank. Teaching Art and Pottery at the University of Oklahoma, as inspired to use clay deposits from Oklahoma. With only a small kiln, a butter churn for mixing clay and jars for glazes, a pottery studio was started in Norman, Oklahoma. Grace Lee and John Frank worked together at Frank Potteries producing art pottery. The name of the company was changed in 1936 from Frank Potteries to Frankoma Pottery- still using the Frank name. But including the last three letters from Oklahoma. It was in 1938 that the company moved ... moreto Sapulpa Oklahoma, west of Tulsa and about 110 miles from the city of Norman. Several months after the move, a fire destroyed the factory, the first of two fires to ravage the company. Clay from Ada Oklahoma was used until 1954. At which time the Franks switched to Sapulpa clay. Ada clay fired to a light beige color, whereas the Sapulpa clay fires to a reddish, terra cotta color. The signature line of Frankoma Pottery dinnerware"Wagon Wheel" was introduced in 1942. According to the Frankoma Family Collector's Association. Frankoma" became the pioneer in colored tableware with designs in bold bas-relief, never before presented to the public. Other very popular items include the political mugs and the Christmas plates. Joniece Frank: Artist daughter Joniece Frank became President of the company when John Frank passed away in 1973 at the age of 69. Another Fire. Frank Family Sells Business: The factory was destroyed once again in 1983 at the peak of success. And once again the factory was re-built. But never quite recovered the same success. This is a great little jug made by Purinton Pottery starting in the early 1940’s. It stands 4-1/2” tall by 4” wide and is made of the standard Purinton slip ware. It has a flowers and stems pattern with a butterfly(or bee) and(what looks like) the original cork stopper. It is in great condition with no chips. Cracks or crazing and shows minimal signs of use.
