Antique tractor planter farmer seat john deere? Americana yard art
Here is a very old farm machinery seat. It is not known what type of implement this came off of for sure but the consensus is that it is from a seed planter from the 1920's to 1940's period. It has been stored in a shed on my family's farm for as long as my uncle of 61 years of age can remember. This metal seat has a beautiful patina to it and is very sturdy despite the rust. Etc. I have not found any sort of brand stamp on it but if you look at picture#7 you can see some original paint showing through. It looks similar in color to faded John Deere green. This seat could easily be displayed in your front yard as the seat supports have holes for mounting to a board etc. Posted with

Vintage, full color. 1970, 4-page, Farm Journal Magazine Ad featuring a John Deere model 4020 New Generation tractor on page 1& 2 and a series of plateless corn and grain planters on pages 3& 4. John Deere. Located in Moline, Illinois, manufactured this equipment. Here's what we find makes this ad interesting. And therefore really collectible: John Deere was on a roll in terms of equipment introduction-they married a successful product(the 4020) with an innovative one(the new Plateless planters) without ever connecting them in the copy-just placing the ads in 2 consecutive 2-page spreads. Big. Stunning photos were now a hallmark of John Deere advertising and this one conveys the message about the basic goal of farmers-finding time to do everything else that has to be done. Here's a farmer that ... morehas pulled his 4020 into his cattle barn to help take care of the cattle. That's the reason you need more power and the 4020, introduced in 1963, had hit the sweet spot for moderate sized farmers. The 4020 would be a very popular tractor with well over 160,000 units sold by the end of its in production in 1972. The 4020 would be a big part of John Deere's breaking the one billion dollars in sales just two years later-in 1972. John Deere scored big with another innovation-the plateless planter systems including the 1300. 1250& 1240-eliminating those pesky seed plates to select seeds-now replaced with finger-pickup and placement. As a common strategy, John Deere ads for new technology continued to use farmers who had used the new technology on their farms. In this ad, Joe Falvre, Dekalb Illinois; Paul Kleiman, New Palestine, Indiana and George Gunn-location not specified. It has a 1939-1940 calendar on the back. Inside the front cover is a list of John Deere Branch Houses. And there are wonderful illustrations and descriptions of lots of John Deere plows. Tractors, harrows, planters, etc. The ledger has not been used. But the months of October thru December have been torn out.
