I inspected the unit prior to listing the auction and noticed a crack on a cast iron plate(picture#5) I had it professionally repaired. Minor assembly will be required. The before mentioned repair required some minor dissembly. I'm leaving it as is to make transport easier for the purchaser. The extra sprockets for the seed are stored in a stand on the end of the planter. This is set up for category 1 hitch. Row width is set at 30 inches. Can be moved out to 40 inches. I am selling what appears to be an original John deere 494A corn planter on rubber wheels that is complete with markers and a hydraulic lift cylinder that I have had for about a year. If you are like me you have been looking all over for these John Deere 71 planters so you can. In the end, probably shoot a huge buck or other game over a food plot? Well, last year I was able to use one of these units to plant my food plots, hands down best planter I have ever used! so I ended up buying a 2 row on a cat 2-3 point and then this spring I bought 4 more single John Deere Model 71's. I'm gonna keep 2 maybe 3 for sure so I better get rid of at least a few. I have these single units for sale first. They can either be sold complete with insecticide boxes and other hardware or I also have a few stripped down. I bought these out of a barn and they are in absolute great shape. John Deere 3-Point Hitch 2-Row Corn Planter , Sells No Reserve !!!
You are bidding on a pretty good older John Deere model"246- 247" 3-Point Hitch, 2-Row Corn Planter. Everything seems to work as it should on it. We had it in the shop and checked it out. Drivechains and sprockets are all good, gears and bearings all seem good. It is all greased up, chains oiled and ready to go. It does have the row marker arms and comes with 4 different sets of corn seed plates. I believe it is ready to take home and go to the field and plant corn. Overall it looks to be a pretty decent clean planter, but keep in mind it is an old planter and it is not perfect. It does have some wear on it, but still has lots of life left in it. Would be great for the small farmer, for your sweet corn patch or for food plots. Good used 2-row planters are hard to find for sale and are bringing premium prices! This brochure is in very good condition for its age. Minor wear on front and back covers, minor soil on cover and pages, no rips or tears, smells slightly of old paper or an attic. 31 pages, John Deere document number A-15-69 11 x 8.5 inches.
