French Veterinary Corps 'desk' coin
Large coin for"Corps Des Veterinaires-Biologistes Service De Sante Des Armies" with the laurel wreath and centaur of the vet corps. Service De Sante Des Armies is the Medical Dept of the French Army. Corps Des Veterinaires-Biologistes is the Veterinary Corps within the Medical Dept. The coin is just shy of 3 inches. Silver colored and weighs in at about 6.6 oz. I assumed it was aluminum but it seems a bit heavy for that. From what I understand these were used on the desk to hold down papers rather than sit in a coil rack. It is in great shape.sorry but I should have dusted it before I took the picture. The base and bottom edge has some roughness but no major dings or damage. There is a makers mark on the front at about 4 o'clock. It appears to be FTA but I am not sure. Very nice and unusual piece.

Vintage Antique Medical Veterinary Surgical Tools Blades with Case
For your consideration is this rare antique surgical kit with tools and knife blades as shown. The tools do have tarnish. Rust and spots of plating loss and are coming to you as found. I have no good knowledge of the use or what is there or missing. The velvet lined case displays the set nicely especially the blades, really intimidating! There are 10 loose instruments, all metal with one having an ebony wood handle. The item in the next to last photo has a split down the back side of the tube. Overall the case measures 16" x 18" x 4" and is solid and in pretty good shade. The latches on the case work well but do not have keys. This is an amazing and rare Dr. Daniels' Veterinary Medicine cabinet that dates from the 1900s. It was used in a general store to display the Dr. Daniels' line of products in an eye-catching manner. The cabinet reads"Dr. Daniels' Veterinary Medicines. Home Treatment for Horses and Cattle, Dr. Daniels Famous Dog Remedies" The door has a tin panel decorated with a lithograph of Dr. Daniels and his variety of wares. The panel does have some minor oxidation as shown in the photos. But the graphics are still very vibrant and easy to read. The door to the cabinet has a keyhole. But does not have the key. Antique Veterinary Fleam Rodgers early 19th century Blood Letting Tool
Description This is an antique Veternary Fleam made by Rodgers in the early 19 th century. While there are reports of this type of instrument being used on humans. It is more likely that these were reserved for veterinary use, while the common thumb lancet was the instrument of choice for use in people. These instruments with their triangular-shaped blades were designed to be placed over the vein(most commonly the jugular or saphenous) and struck with a fleam stick. This would ideally result in a rapid penetration of the vein with minimal risk to the operator and minimal dissection of the subcutaneous tissues. This latter point would have been considered important in minimizing the formation of a dissecting hematoma. Once the desired blood was drained from the patient. The operator would place a pin through the edges of the incision. A figure ... moreeight of tail hair or thread would then be placed over the pin to retain closure. Over 90% of the collection has the original ... morecontents in their canisters, bottles and tins. The ingredients are now inert being over 100 years old. This collection also contains his titled“The Practical Home Veterinarian” books of all the years published by him. These are hardback books with graphic pictures of him and his products and treatments of disease. The collection also includes the autobiography“The Life Story of Dr. David Roberts” a rare book. The collection also contains numerous advertising pamphlets by his company such as“The Cattle Specialist” invoices, envelopes and three Home Veterinary Course notebooks developed by Dr. Roberts. There are a number of wood and metal boxes with his veterinary instrumentation included. The original Dr. Roberts Medicine Stand is one of a few that still exist. I have only seen one other stand in 40 years of collecting in very poor condition and without the original medicines. This display stand measures 25 ½ inches in length. 19 inches wide, and 34 inches high. It is made of tin. It also has a side latching door to store the extra medicines within the stand.
