A light emission unit, a flow-through sample cell, a four-chamber cuevette cell, and a detector module. The sample cell and detector modules fit onto a pair of metal rails on the end of the light emitter unit, as shown in the detail photo. The light emitter has two main control knobs that set wavelength(1000.0 nm to 180.0 nm) and slit width(2.000 mm to 0.000 mm) The shafts these knobs are mounted on emerge from the back of the unit where there appear to be some mounting points for mounting some other module that could turn them automatically, but no such modules are included with this set. Also on the front is a filter holder with four light filters in it. The box containing the UV and visible light ... morelamps has a power switch, a knob for selecting UV or visible light, and a switch with the settings"UV or vis" and"UV and vis" It has a 15-pin cable that connects to the power supply's"lamp" connector. The item powered on with no problems. The display is in working condition and easy to read. The fans sound strong and the unit sounds overall very good while running. All button and knobs are in good working condition as well. In"factor" mode, I was able to change the wavelength and data by using the knobs and buttons on the unit. The wavelength goes from 311- 992 and the data goes from 0.1- 1000. In all of the other modes(Transmittance/Absorbance/Concentration) the wavelength was ... morechangeable. But the data constantly flashed 199.9 or-199.9 and was unchangeable. I am not sure if this is an error or normal behavior for the unit. Unfortunately. A tested and working Pharmacia Biotech Model Ultrospec 2000 UV VIS Spectrophotometer with two quartz cuvettes. The nicest one I've had in some time. No surprises. The UV and Visable lamps are both working It's fun and easy to use. It snaps right to the wavelength. See full test details below. Manu: Pharmacia Biotech Model: 80-2105-00 Dim: 20W 7H 14"D Weight: 30 pounds Tested: I tested absolute and relative absorbance across the full spectrum range of the unit. I used phenol red sigma p-4758. The readings came close to those made by a reference unit. I made my primary reading at 550nm. You just hit'wavelength' and punch in your wavelength it's it gets there immediately. It zeros correctly. I set the wavelength at and then at frequencies on both sides and the absorbance fell off. See the photos of my actual test. And ... morethen I put some diluted protein in and zero'd it with distilled water and then stuck the protein in. I got a ton of absorbance at 280nm. I then changed the wavelength to either side of 280 and the absorbance dropping off. See that in the photos. Cosmetic Condition: On a scale of poor/fair/good/ excellent it's in the good range.
