The set itself was made in 1915 and was used in WWI. Due to its superb quality it was used during WWII as well. Proof of that is its provenance among captured Wehrmacht field gear and equipment as well as the presence of a WWII Russian instrument inside(possibly acquired from captured Russian field hospital) There is also another instrument inside dated 1933. This is a portable set for the Lazarett field hospitals. Suitable to be used in field conditions, at the battlefield. The set goes into a wooden carrying container made of light mahogany, enforced with solid bronze braces ensuring its ... moredurability in the rough battlefield conditions. All of the instruments are made of chromed steel except some of them that are made of solid silver(grade 800) There are two very rare instruments for removing objects from the trachea that are made of rhinoceros horn. This large. Stainless steel, deep pelvic retractor, made by Aesculap is model number BT672. The blade of the retractor measure 7.25 inches long.
