The planter is rectangular with the well serving as a the vessel for holding a small plant. An amorous little Dutch boy is gazing at a bashful Dutch girl beside a wishing well. The boy and girl are painted in shades of blue and yellow on ivory. The rest of the planter is glazed a pretty green color. The planter is 8 1/4 inch long by 3 inch wide by 6 1/2 inch tall. The well is 2 3/4 inches in diameter. The front of the planter is imprinted with Wishing Well and there are small hearts on either side of the inscription. Rare Vintage Hull Black Dog Planter # 119 No Reserve!
wonderful Hull vintage black porcelain dashhound? Dog planter. This item is about 14 inches long nose to tail. It is about 6 inches at the tallest point on the top of his head. The opening in his back is just under 6 inches long. And is about an inch and 3 quarters wide. This dog statue is mostly black with a lighter spot in the glaze on his foot, and a small 1 on the back of his head. Sadly the tip of the puppies tail is broken off down near his leg. The exposed part of porcelain has been blacked out, I didn't notice the break until further inspection. Also has some stuffing on the glaze on his rear leg. This is a really nice large sized animal planter in the shape of a wonderful Chocolate Cocker Spaniel. The face is really nice and shows wonderful texture for the ears and the basket planter. It has been used and there is a water residue around the rim of the planter. There is a small chip on the foot that looks like it has been painted. It stands 3 1/4" high, and is 7 3/4" wide by 3 1/4" deep; it is in good condition, but has 2 manufacturer's/mold flaws that can only be seen when viewed very closely: a"laceration" along the upper edge caused by air in the mold(see pic 4) and a marbling of the glass mixture with a concentration of white(see pic 5) neither of these are cracks, nor do they affect the integrity of the piece. feel free to email me with any questions; thank you for looking. We had one like this on our TV. It was suppose to help improve the TV watching experience. It has no chips or cracks. But it does have some age crazing to the paint. It shows little white specks in the picture, but they are hard to see with the naked eye. I was able to"flick" some of them off with my fingernail, so they are not in the paint but on the paint, like paint spatter. It has no markings on the bottom. I have not plugged this in, because of the age of the plug, but everything appears to be tight. I am sorry the shipping will be high for this piece because of the weight. This is such an attractive vintage planter and unfortunately I do not know the maker. The combination of gold wheels and trunk carrier on the roof of the US mail stagecoach make it an elegant piece.
