Vintage Maple Syrup Pitcher Jug with Lid Monmouth Pottery USA Maple Leaf VGC+
You are bidding on a Monmouth Pottery Co. piece. Research indicates this may be a syrup pitcher but would also be a great water pitcher or carafe. Stands 12" high and is 4 1/2" in diameter across the bottom. The color is tan with speckles. Matte finish. Bottom is marked USA and also has a maple leaf. Western Stoneware in Monmouth Illinois was originally known as Monmouth Pottery Co. They began making stoneware jugs. Crocks, and bowls in the late 1800's. Many items were marked with just a maple leaf or USA. Jug is in excellent condition. The lid has some staining(see pictures) and roughness around the rim. There is also a manufacturing flaw in the stained area. This is not visible on the outside of the piece. Very heavy so expect to see that reflected in the shipping costs. Pictures may show glare. We have for sale a Vintage. Rusty, Pure Maple Syrup 1 Gallon Tin with a Great Label. The tin is a Swallow Brand, produced by Rocque Swallow, Inc. of Kiel, Wisconsin. Although rusty, the tin does not have any major dents. The handle is securely attached and does move back and forth. The cap can be removed from the tin and with some cleaning would do so easily. From what can be seen, the interior appears to be in fair condition, with being shiny and not too rusted. The tin measures 9 1/8" tall and 5 1/4" square. Please view photos for details. Hewit in New Castle, Indiana. The size is 8" x 4 5/8" and it is in excellent condition, just 2 tiny tears, one on top left edge and one on right edge by the bottom corner, a crease at bottom left corner and at top left and right corners, but it still looks quite nice, see scans. This is a great old label with a very nice illustration of a Champion Evaporator, made in Hudson, Ohio, and would be a nice addition to a label collection, or kitchen decor. This auction is for the maple syrup bottle shown in the pics. It's clear glass and shaped like a log cabin. It measures 3 by 2 and a half inches and is 4 and a half inches tall to the cap. It's too small for a quart so I'm assuming it's a pint. I can't quite make out all the numbers. Etc. across the bottom and not even sure if it stands for the volume anyway. It's in perfectly good shape for use or display. Even with just colored water in it on a window sill! No returns. I'm not an expert. But I do try to show and tell all I can with each of my items.
