It came from the estate of a gentleman who worked for Phillips 66 and caps of this kind were often issued to employees who walked around refineries in the course of their jobs and could run into low pipes etc. These caps offer less protection than a typical hard hat and there is a sticker inside the cap that says. Here is a very nice Orange"Hard Boiled" Bump Cap. The cap was designed by Ed. Bullard Company in the United States. The cap is size 6 5/8 to 7 5/8. The cap measures 10 3/4" from front to back. It also measures 7 1/2" from side to side. The cap measures about 4 1/2" high. The cap weighs just 8 ounces. The cap is not intended to be used as a safety helmet.
